'07 F150 5.4L 3V Tuneup
I'm wanting to get good information on a good tuneup. My 5.4 runs well enough but I want a little more. A short history of my truck. I purchased my '07 in May of '08. Got it home and had a Volant cold air intake system and a Magnaflow cat back dual exhaust installed. I also purchased a Super Chips tuner, right now I've configured the truck for performance and I'm burning E85.
It's my every day driver. I now have 160K miles on it. The engine has been fine. At 120K I had just the plugs replaced with Champions but not the coil packs. I've always had the oil changed every 5K miles, Motorcraft 5W20. I have now gone to Mobile1 the last two oil changes and everything appears fine. With quick acceleration at about 3200rmp it feels as if it misses slightly. So I'm thinking, this is a Ford therefore Motorcraft parts, Motorcraft plugs, Motorcraft coil packs. So, the meat of the question is, is there something more I should be looking at as far as the ignition system is considered?

nope. get new coil packs. I have an 09 f150 that started losing mpg (around 1.5-2 mpg) as I approached 75k. I put in new coil packs and she's better than new. Some won't agree but this has been my experience.

Rowdy, si, replace ye fuel filter. Now! Heheheheeee, that's an incredibly easy job! Cut Sharpie marker pen cap to about 3/4", split it so it'll fit over ye fuel line where it comes into the filter, push it in to release the spring clamp thingamajig, and pull line out of filter. I use pliers to push cap into line to release clamps. Oh, remove ye gas cap first to release a bit o' pressure. Ye don't need nary high dollar filter release tool, Sharpie caps are made for this job.
