08 and 09 F150's with 5.4L diesel sound?
Hello all.
New to this forum.
I've been looking at buying a used F150. I've looked at a few 08-09 with the 5.4L. Both had 90k miles and both had a loud diesel sound when idling warm. Well beyond the normal loud injectors. Did some online research and I'm finding a lot of people having cam phaser problems. What I didn't find is weather this is a must fix problem or just annoying.
My question is; If I buy a 5.4, am I going to be dumping $3,000 within 10k miles or is this something that can run for the normal life of a motor?
