I have an 06 4.2L V6 with 98000 miles that started getting a slight stutter when pulling a small hill, it happened sporraticly. Coming home last week it started missing and jerking and after a couple of miles it lost power to the point that is was like it was pulling at idle no matter how far the gas pushed. While limping it home we were doing about 15mph, all it would do, it kicked in and had mre power all of a sudden but was still missing badly.
I've changed the fuel filter, spark plugs, and ignition coil with no luck. When started cold it will idle but has a noticable miss, when it warms up to operating temperature no power can hardly pull itself back in the garage.
I've also notice the smell of gas in the exhaust today while running it. Any help would be appreciated, it's our only vehicle and we live 30 miles from town so running and getting new parts is a major hassle.

Sounds like a ignition problem,have a 02 and had the same problem but a new coil pack fixed it,good luck as you have already replaced it

It was the coil pack the replacement was bad on a different cylinder. I got another new one and it did the trick.
