Default 05 Extended Cab with 4.6 Rough Idle

I have owned this truck since new and it has always had an annoying Idle. I took it to 4 different dealerships in my travels for work and they all say the same thing. "Just the way this combination of cab and engine seems to run". Does anyone else have this problem or possibly found a fix?

What's the mileage? Did they check for a bad COP?

It has 78,000 on it and has done it from day one that I have owned it. However it is only an annoyance when I am at an idle, and when you barely put a load on it, say up 100 RPM it goes away. What is the COP that you are talking about?

I am not a mechanic by any means, what does this control and is it easily replaced?

Here's a few things I suggest and do it in this order to see if the problem goes away, so find yourself a good mechanic:

1. Change fuel filter
2. Change air filter
3. Chean MAF Sensor
4. Clean throttle body
5. Replace spark-plugs
6. Have each COP tested - This is basicly a spark-plug wire but it's attached directly onto the Spark-plug thus elimanating the "wire". These are known to go bad. You have one for each plug (total of 8) they are like $60.00 each at the dealership so you don't want to have to replace all 8 if only one is bad. A good mechanic should know how to find a bad one.

Good-luck,

Krazy

If its done it since new and it has not set a code there is no "skip" plus it goes away when he applies throttle. Mine had a rough idle too. I used the tuner to change the idle and its AWSOME now.. Clean the throttle body too. With that mileage you should be looking at replacing the plugs too.
