Thumbs down Wiring ISSUE, Flush Mount Revers light (LED)

Make/Model: 2011 F150 XLT
I have gone through past forum and not found something similar so I ask for help.
I got 2 Rectangle LED Truck Trailer Back-Up Lights with Built In Flange - 6" form SupperbrightLED.com https://www.superbrightleds.com/more.../#/tab/Reviews
My plan was to splice them into the wiring harness one each side and ground each side to the truck. I tested the LED light on the battery to see the brightness after wiring to the existing revers light the LED turn on but the brightness is no where near the out put as if it where strait off the battery.
I do not want to put a switch in the truck I need them to come on automatically with the backup lights.

Sounds like a bad ground. Did you use truck ground or your own? clean it?

If you hooked the new LEDs into your existing reverse light bulb wiring, then that is your problem. Those square LEDs draw a lot more power than the reverse light bulbs. You need to get power from the battery. Here is what you do. Get a relay, 4 or 5 pin does not matter. Run thick wire (14-16 gauge is fine) from battery to relay power in. Then run wire from relay power out to the new LED lights. Ground your LED's, and your relay to the frame. Tap into your reverse light bulb wiring, here you can use a small wire gauge (I use 18 gauge). Run that wire to the relay "switch" power, this signals the relay to let power through to your new lights whenever there is power to the reverse lights (signal wire). Done and done.
