I really dislike those pullout cupholders down by the floor. Me being a fatman probably has a lot to do with it.

Yesterday I took the headrest off the jumpseat and disassembled it down to the steel hoop that it is. There is quite an angle on the end of it which I will have no problem straightening so it will look like a "U" with long legs.

I'm a wannabe wood worker so I'm going to make a 2 cup cupholder with a catch all box on the front of it and attach it to the "U" so that it will be flush with the seat back when it's folded down.

Hopefully the pic will give you an idea what I'm trying to explain. Any other thoughts on design of the wooden cup holder/organizer are welcome.

This looks like a great idea. I also hate that drawer style cup holder. Did you ever get this finished? I would love to see pics.
