Street stock class, 1/4 mile asphalt oval in Boise Idaho. engine will be carbureted with a 500cfm 2bbl Holley carb. Intake is the only thing out there, Edelbrock E-boss (basically a Performer RPM designed for the clev heads on a windsor). The Boss 302 from the 60s/70s was the same type of engine, but clev heads on a 302. it's old-school as hell but i think it will be badass when it's all said and done. Aside from the basics, im planning on a cam in the mid 500s lift and probably 240-260 duration on a 106 or 108lsa. i've got an X pipe and side exit exhaust going behind it all too. should be a nasty little **** when it's done.

and i should add, this class is all Camaros with 383s at this point. i'm the only one crazy enough to run a Ford in the class. haha

not really.. we got about 9 inches of snow last week and havent gotten to work on it much, But i did find that these headers will either need to be re-thought or everything around it ground off.. at least on the passenger side, the primaries hit the back half of the lower control arm mounting area.. not sure if this can be cut off behind the bushing without hurting anything or not (trim the fat and weld up a 1/4" plate for reinforcement maybe)... thoughts?

If rules allow, I would shove the engine back as far as I can. Then trim and plate the frame,or mod the headers.
What pistons are you running?

Actually they changed my rules for the '15 season and i can't run domed pistons so im rethinking the whole engine. Gonna keep it a Windsor with the D0OE '70 heads with some flat top pistons for around 11:1. The engine is a low and far back as i can make it. There's maybe an inch between the firewall and the back of the bell housing/heads. Thinking of using one of the Lunati bootlegger cams in this thing, obviously different headers, xpipe and side exit exhaust with most likely 6.0 gears this thing oughtta move out pretty well and sound wicked doing it

I would go with crane or schneiders for a cam, lunati was good stuff, but now they are owned the same company as comp cams , so I am afraid. Comp sold me nothing but garbage.Isky and crower make good stuff too. We run a vacuum rule here, with unlimited displacement, and compression ratio.
It's a tuff trucks style off road series , unlimited horsepower limited suspension, crazy stuff.
If you can get your heads flow benched , pick a cam with lift just past where they stop flowing , then gr as much duration as the bottom end will stand, rpm wise.

Fortunately i don't have a compression or lift rule but i do have a displacement rule. 360 max+.060. Flat tops, hydraulic flat tappet cam, dual plane intake, 500 holley. I wanted to do a 393 but the factory head hurdle would suck with a stroker. I was also looking into isky cams, i was under the impression that lunati was a holley company? I also like that with clay Smith cams you can get their pattern cams ground on whatever LSA i want. Im not planning on spinning over 6k so not sure where that leaves me as far as duration goes but i was thinking like 106-108 lsa for torque

wow it's been a while since ive updated this.. So here's the rub:

Engine is together and running, ended up flat top pistons, GT40P heads, headers from a fox-body mustang fit PERFECTLY, comp XE274H cam, performer RPM knockoff intake, fabricated X pipe and spintech sportsman mufflers dumped just in front of the axle.

Front suspension changed drastically.. spindles and lower ball joints (flipped) from a 2003 crown vic and the associated 12" brakes, upper control arms from an 03 navigator, heim joint steering, rear end is out of a 73ish ford car (LTD/Tbird something) and rear disks from an explorer, direct bolt on. 6.0 rear gears, 28 spline lightweight spool.
