I know there are a ton of builds for flat beds and full wooden boxes.

How ever I was wondering if its possible to replace just the inside (metal) box and keep the outside (fiberglass)?

I'm rather hands on and would like to keep the bed I have if possible but the box inside is rotted out down both seams and wheel wells.

Has anyone done this and can give me some guidance?

i mean you could cut out the inside, craft a wood replica of the same proportions, drill it in at connection points

The issue I have with this is... The wood will be thicker than the sheet metal...it won't just simply swap
