Yeah, I like it on the mirror too - not sure why Ford always puts it on the visor. I wish there was a plug and play option though. I don't want to start splicing wires.

It's a shame that manufacturers intentionally and strategically bundle certain desirable options in higher trim levels in an effort to coerce consumers to spend more $$$ on other options they really don't need or want.
Leather seats, power fold/extend mirrors and LED headlamps are perfect examples of what I am referring to.

I like this idea, looks to be a very clean solution. Do you have a link to the youtube video on how to remove the oem mirror?
Can you post pics of your setup?
Thanks

Prob should be a different thread, but might help someone in this one- I also wished my XLT visor had homelink too, but I didnt want to run wires so I replaced the rear view mirror with a Gentex framless dimming mirror with 3 homelink buttons - easily spliced and crimped to the existing mirror wires , looks and works very nice. hardest part was popping off the stock mirror without breaking the glue thats holding the mount to the windshield (youtube saved me). Ive got an entry gate and a garage and these buttons work better than any remote ive used before and won't work unless the truck is turned on. offically clicker free.
obviously a more economical option would be to buy the homelink module on ebay and install into your visor, but I didnt want to tear up my brand new headliner and visor too much and run wires blah blah blah. There are less expensive gentex models, if you fell out of your chair when you saw how much this one is, but very worth it to me.

I completely understand your concerns about potentially compromising the integrity of the factory wiring harness. This is exactly why I chose not to run wires down the A-Pillar to another power source. The source that I will be using is the same power source that is used to power the sun visors in the Lariat trim level and IMO will be the least invasive.

I can't stand much longer having my girlfriend turning on every overhead light and then bitching about how a $50k truck doesn't come with lights in the visors (I'd have to agree).
I too want it as OEM as possible. I really hope your solution is close to plug and play (aside from connecting the wires from the visor into the harness connected adapter you ordered)
Good luck and let me know please!
