Default Working a lease deal

Hi all, I'm in the market for a '15 Lariat. Emailed several dealers asking for their best price, which seemed to work pretty well. Went to one of the dealers today and went for a test drive. Definitely a nice vehicle and hope to get something worked out but am willing to wait some time to get the best deal.

I'm thinking about leasing the vehicle for a number of reasons, but I can't seem to get the dealer's lease payment to match up with the numbers I am coming up with. Going onto Ford's website and calculating using X-Plan (which is actually a higher sale price than what I was given), I see a monthly price around $459 (I'm putting about 10% down). When I go use the lease calculator on Edmunds, I get very close to the same price. Two dealers that I've spoken with are telling me $520-$530. Where is the difference coming from? Sales tax should be included in my math, and I know rebates are next to nothing for a lease, so that's accounted for.

Sidenote, one of the dealers told me I had to have some sort of protection plan. He said it would pay for up to $2,500 in damage at the end of the lease, which he said I might otherwise be responsible for (he used new tires as an example of something I'd be responsible for, which doesn't sound accurate according to the Ford Credit site). This sounds kind of bogus to me... I see a reference on the Ford Credit website to "WearCare". I wonder if they were somehow including that, but it doesn't look mandatory as he was telling me it was.

Final thought... they told me a lease might look better on August 1st. I was thinking I've read on here before that lease rates are only adjusted at the beginning of each quarter. Do rebates change more frequently than that? I can see how a lease-specific rebate would help, but it doesn't sound like residuals/MF would be changing as its not the end of the quarter. Thanks for any help anyone can provide!

I lease an f150 currently and along with sales tax in the payment, fmc also includes estimated property tax in your payment. Also gap insurance is built into all fmc leases as far as I know. I can't say that is the difference but it probably get you closer to that number. They also maybe adding that protection plan into the lease which I think is an add on which u do not need. Good luck with the lease

Okay, thanks for the help. Doing a little research, Edmunds says that it's pretty much required in every lease nowadays, so makes sense that it's either included in the lease, or you get it through your auto insurance coverage. $70/month for gap insurance still seems really high, though! Probably means that property tax is included. Still don't know why the dealer couldn't explain this to me when I asked.

Don't forget the $595 acquisition fee (which should be included in the price on Fords website), and dealer handling, which around here is $599.

I leased my 2015 Lariat about 2 months ago, MSRP was $51,200, sale price of $46,000. 36 months lease, 12k miles, tax title reg included for $512/mo, first payment was due at delivery, nothing else down. GAP insurance is all factored into the lease rate, the wear package is an option, you don't need to take it.

Just got a quote on a platinum 19500 per year 24 month lease for 979+ tax with 2000 down. Sticker was 61 and change, selling at 54 and change. Figured I'd offer what I'm seeing
