The King Ranch interior is killer. I think the Lariat Sport trim is nicer than the Lariat fake wood but the KR wood is head and shoulders above both Lariat trims. KR seat leather and detail looks to be luxury car caliber.

I saw my first Lariat Sport yesterday and it looks like the leather on the lariat is not super high quality. Don't get me wrong, it's fine but really interested to compare the difference between the Lariat leather and Platinum that should be here tomorrow!!! Hopefully.

I notice here that you say "Lariat fake wood" and "KR wood" but I believe the KR trim is also fake wood, just a different pattern and color. Is that not the case?

The King Ranch and Platinum have real wood trim. I think the fake wood trim trend over the last 40 years has so contaminated things that one just assumes it's all fake. It's long past time for this wood design thing to disappear from modern vehicle interiors.

I personally think the KR wood trim is far and away the nicest of all of them. But I am a huge fan of Cherry and those color woods, which this trim reminds me of. The recent KR pictures have shown just how gorgeous the interior is. Well done Ford!

Ah, I see. And searching specifically for it I find the "genuine wood accents" called out on the KR overview that I hadn't seen in the build/price tool. I still think I'd prefer the Lariat Sport interior, but of course my favorite color (Blue Jeans) isn't available in Sport trim. It's always a trade-off! I like the Sport wheels, but the blacked-out grille a bit less. Who knows what the combos will be when it's time to order in 2016 anyway, right?

I personally think you should have the choice of different trims to choose from especially when you get to Lariat. If you want dark wood, cherry wood or lighter wood, it should be available like on the higher end cars like BMW for example! Lariat is not cheap when you load it up but put fake wood, little stupid IMO.

I would have liked having an option to choose nicer quality leather and would gladly pay for it. I really think Ford should give people more choices! Like having Platinum with Sport package with no chrome option and that's the main reason we went with fully loaded Lariat Sport. I personally prefer the more modern interiors so having no wood in Lariat is not an issue.

Hi David,

Yes, the center pen holder liner lifts out, however it is nicely fitted in it.

I had to go out and check it out because I did not notice it. However, upon inspection, I see it can be lifted out to be cleaned, if something gets in there.

Here is a picture...now perfectly showing the liner, but you get the idea.

Not the case. In fact, the wood in my KR is definitely real--I can see the grain and imperfections in the wood surface. It is VERY nice.
