Default Windshield for '15 = $450

Small rock chip led to big crack before I could fix it. New factory window installed is $450. May be much higher for you guys with lane keeping cameras.

And that's why I have 1 free windshield replacement every 12 months thru my insurance. Worth it in my opinion plus I live on a gravel road. Comprehensive insurance is the way to go for.

Zero $ deductible comprehensive coverage. Had it for years. Most have a $500 dollar deductible, so pointless for small things.

A rock hitting your windshield is not your fault nor is it completely avoidable. Why come out of pocket $100s on mere chance.

Thanks for the info. Lesson learned.

Just side note my GF 2013 Kia optima windshield replacement is about $850 from safelite so thankfully she has the one free one every 12 months..... Just thought I'd share.

Dad always says "There is no such thing as a free lunch."

I think you are financing that windshield. Hey, if the deal is good, go for it.

Of course you are paying for the windshield in payments. Mine is $3 a month more for the lower deductible. I have had it for roughly six years. That's about $220 extra since then. One windshield replaced ~$170. So I have paid $50 in 6 years. If it had been $450 I would be ahead or had more than one broken windshield.

Yes it's not fully free but it's dirt cheap. I will compare my insurance rates even with zero deductibles with anyone and I would be close.

Peace of mind. YMMV

P.S. Was just stating an opinion not attacking the quoted person.

After replacing the windshield with Safelite, the truck is quieter than before. Exact same glass from Ford. Maybe they use better black goo to hold the windshield in or just did it better than the factory did. I see others with leaks around the windshield on the forums. Maybe Ford was a little stingy on the sealer in the factory. Safelite also said that if the frame is scratched when removing the window, there is a special primer they have to use since it is aluminum now and the old type primer is not compatible. I get about 5 windshields a year from them for all of my trucks. Maybe they spent a little extra time on mine because of that. The new goo doesn't require the tape to hold the window for a day like before either. They fixed 2 quarter size rock chips that I thought were too big to fix on one of my Izuzu NPR-HD trucks at the same time. Can barely tell they were there now.

I have a hard time believing that going from a $500 deductable to a $0 deductible is only $3 a month. For giggles I just quoted my policy to go to a $0 deductable and it added nearly 50% to my policy for 2 vehicles ($200-$290).

Had mine replaced by safelite as well and they do use what appears to be a higher quality adhesive than the factory. I watched the guy do it from start to finish. very good job and insurance covered it 100%. I just need the Dearborn sticker for the lower corner now LOL
