Who wishes they would have looked harder at Ram before getting 2015+ F150?

Everybody is building a pretty good truck these days, it really comes down to personal preferences, whatever those may be.
To me, the '15 Dodge I test drove felt like the outdated, heavy truck that it is. Yes, smooth & quiet on the road, but just didn't feel dialed in like the Ford. Didn't care for the powertrains at all, either gas hogs, or gutless. And the styling is just plain getting old, IMO.
Similar story for the GM twins, though a bit less so.
Wouldn't consider a Toyota or Nissan, ever.
Had three Ridgelines, but have outgrown the mid-size truck.
The new F150 was a perfect fit.

I test drove three F150's, 2.7, 3.5 and 5.0 and I drove a Ram 1500 Laramie Hemi and ecodiesel. I have to say the new Laramie was very impressive, especially the interior and the ride, also liked the ecodiesel, but it came down to the fact that I just didn't like the look of the Ram vs the F150 and if I am paying north of 50k I want something that appeals to my eye on top of everything else. You really cant wrong with either truck, it comes down to what you like, style, colour, performance etc. I ordered a Lariat 3.5 SE in Ruby red

I traded in my 2014 Ecoboost after the motor had to be replaced due to loud knocking!!!! Got a ram 1500 Ecodiesel and man the fuel mileage is unbelievable really!!!!!!!
The ram is nowhere near the Eco in power but it will hold its own in towing!

I looked hard at the 2015 Ram Sport before buying my Lariat 502A. I think the RAM was the better value, especially because I bought the Lariat early on without much incentive. RAM was giving 10K off without much haggling. Sure their resale isn't as good but you get a hell of a a discount up front compared to a Lariat, so it probably equals out...might even favor the Ram. I ended up closing the F150 because it was a fresh style and had memory seats and the 3.5EB (which I tuned).
I don't haul slabs of granite and chunks of lead, so honestly the payload was not that big of a deal for me. I tow a quad...occasionally...so my Accord could've handled that too.
Looking back, I think it's a flip of a coin. I think I would've been just as happy with the Ram, but am very happy with my F150 as well. I plan on keeping the truck for a minimum of 7 years, so my fingers are crossed!

I did look hard at the Ram, it was really hard to look at that dated boring interior that looks like it's from the late 90's. Gas mileage was crap. As for the EcoDiesel, it does 0-60 in 3 minutes and costs way too much maintenance-wise. And the new ones with the gigantic RAM on the grill and tailgate looks kinda childish and are not my taste at all. I hate the LOOK AT ME stuff.
Ford had a nice modern interior, very comfortable to be in, handles much better. And I really like how the electric steering handles at different speeds; basically no effort in a parking lot. The mileage is amazing, and sure the EcoDiesel does slightly better, but the EB is peppier and costs less for maintenance. Plus, the F150 has been best-selling and #1 truck for the most years by far.
I actually looked into Ram first when thinking of getting a pickup truck. But after some reading and some test drives, I quickly changed to either a Silverado or F150, and finally the F150.

The Ram dash is pretty well laid out, nicer than the 09-14 F150. I'd consider the Rebel as it's a very nice looking interior package and has air ride and Billies.

Great topic, but they are NOT Dodges anymore. They are Ram, their own separate brand. I had a 2014 Laramie 4x4 Crew Cab, and it was a great truck. The 8 speed transmission was awesome matched with the 3.92 rear and a HEMI! I really liked the dial as it freed up tons of usable space on the console which is now taken up by a dopey useless shifter, but I digress. I also appreciated the factory dual exhaust which looks great. The only issues with my Ram were an intermittent bug that would kill the power to the 4x4 selector, heated seats etc, they could never figure out what the deal was. The only other issue was a peeling fender flare. That's it over 2 years and lots of adventures and miles...
Earlier this spring we downsized and I sold her for $38,500 on Craigslist and bought a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Ultimate AWD..... and I %$#@( hated that car. HATED. So I decided to go back to a truck I thought about another Ram, but I HATE the stupid grill and RAM on the tailgate, plus it was essentially unchanged from my 2014. I really wanted adaptive cruise and new tech, plus the poor safety rating was a concern.
Let us know what you decide!

Last time I owned a ram was 2003 , I bought a 2001 Dodge Ram. It got horrible fuel mileage , they've still got a gas thirsty motor in them, still really heavy, still have low payload ratings, they seem to rust quickly up here in Nebraska.
My truck decided to crap out at around 68k miles, the dodge dealership threw tons of new sensors on it, it never ran correctly after that. Around 69k miles I got rid of it and got a old 1991 Ranger and drove that until it had 232k miles on it, it still ran strong when I traded it.
That's why I've decided to stick with Ford. I don't have a pic of my ranger , but I do miss it.
I worked with a guy who bought a new ram and he swore by it , I can't personally speak for the newer Rams though.
