In Canada the dealers deny that they receive any holdback. They do receive it or something very similar of course, only with a different name. The amount seems to be a deep secret.

It has the same name up here in the great white north.

The the law of "deals" applies to both sides of the border equally too, people will overstate deals they make online and in person. Your buddy that says he got X for his trade and only paid Y for his new one will the majority of the time have used some "creative rounding" to get to his numbers, or when he says his payment is only Z he'll forget to mention that its for 8 years or he had a trade that was paid for. If you've shopped around and gotten a deal that you and the dealer can live with, don't worry about whether you were above or below invoice, plus or minus holdback etc.

Note: the dealer's true/net cost of the vehicle would be ~ $58,500 (invoice) minus the factory holdback of 3% of MSRP (not including shipping) or ~ $56,745. Thus, the dealer's profit on the transaction would be ~ $2,755 if selling at invoice + $1,000.

Yeah sorry, my sentence structure is horrible lol

Exactly what you said. 65k is MSRP, $58500 is the dealer cost and he would add $1000 on it. I'm going to ask for free winter tires with it...

Default Ram 1500

i never bothered checking out GM
I am driving in a Ram 1500 crew cab limited with a 6.5' bed as we speak. Ordered in mid 2013 same week they came available for order. Picked top of the line limited with air suspension and rambox [longer for 6.5' bed] MSRP was $54k, got it for $500 below invoice plus all holdback, and plus rebates available at time of delivery - OTD pricing $43k.

I am not brand loyal - at the time this truck had the best technology options of any manufacturer. Overall I am happy with the truck, but a few things have me looking at the 2015 F150. For one, the air suspension freezes up in very low temps, popping [30Amp] fuses. I am also getting a lot of false error messages from the vehicle diagnostic system. I know just enough about functional safety in electronic safety control systems for this to push me into looking for something else...

I just wish I could get a similar deal for the Ford like I did with the Ram - rebates available at delivery [$5k], all dealer holdback [$1.6k] and below invoice pricing [small town dealership with low overhead willing to deal].

Guess I'll wait until rebates start showing up.... but realistically you could get the same deal on the Ram now -in the mid $40's for their top of the line truck... I am very interested in the 360 camera system, especially for a crew cab/6.5' bed combo.

I nearly bought that same Ram truck as you Gombater. The technology that Ram made available at the time was very tempting (was pissed they backed away from adaptive cruise at the last minute though). However once I finally got a look at the door placard and realized the maximum payload wasn't enough to even haul a full complement of adult passengers I very quickly ruled it out.

Yea, that was almost a show stopper for me too literally 900 lb payload including passengers. I thought about how I would use the truck and decided that for times I needed to haul heavier loads [not often] I could use my trailer instead. So far that's worked out.

What concerns me is the truck thinking the keyfob has left the cabin while driving down the road, random 'check engine' lights that go away in 5 min, and similar....

Does anyone know if an aftermarket NAv/ GPS system can be installed in place of the center display? I've done it in the past on other vehicles, but sometimes that is tied into the HVAC controls and other features.
