If you choose to wait, take the 50K you would have spent this year, buy Alcoa shares, hold it for three years, take the proceeds and buy your new truck.

Two years ago, $50,000 would have bought ~ 6,400 shares of Alcoa. At the market close last Friday, those shares could have been sold for $110,600. So, you would have both the $50,000 F-150 purchase price and your initial $50K investment intact. The market anticipates that Alcoa's automotive aluminum sales will triple within the next two years.

Yup...and there are other aluminum companies that'll get a big bump from this change in the industry. Pick your man and go with it.

But, this is not an investment forum, so we better shut up before everyone starts yelling at us!

Very good advice, it is still not too late. If the 2015 is a hit, you probably won't have to wait 3 years. I didn't.

If you need to make some money for the new 2015, consider Alcoa Aluminum, $9.27 a share today.
The above quote is from my post on 10/31/13, Post #45. Alcoa just closed at $17.28 Friday. Less than a year.

Aluminum, like the Ecoboost engines, is here to stay. Like the Eco, there may be problems initially, but they will be worked out. Steel bodies will go the way of wooden boats, favored by a handful of diehards.

Ford stated the aluminum was stronger than the steel used now.

likely due only to thickness. the current body panels are paper thin.

Aluminum is here to stay. Kudos to Ford for being "first"... and awesome the SD is going that way too.

You really think your 09-14 truck would fare any better? I don't. I'm sure you could put a hole in it with a screwdriver. Next time you close your door, watch the exterior door panel flop like a sheet of paper when it closes.

whats the difference?

and the ones that dont still are not bulletproof... or even "resistant." Unless through the art of trickery you are speaking of an armored vehicle.
