So much negativity about the aluminum in the new F150... Why? You think Ford is that stupid?

As an aviator, aluminum, rivets, and adhesives kept me flying throughout the cold war. It's good enough for me now on the highway, too.
Congrats to Ford for their leadership.

Fords military grade aluminum is scarring the **** out of GM, Dodge and Toyota so anyone that does not think it's the Future material of new vehicles is delusional.
A 2016 Prototype F-350 aluminum body truck just burned up in the desert so what does that tell you.

LOL that was a good response, but I was making the point that the market is headed towards lighter aluminum bodies.

Not that my opinion matters, but I think the soda(pop) can analogy is what's stupid.

The soda/beer can analogy is ridiculous, but no more so than Ford claiming "Military grade" aluminum.

Interesting, but I wouldn't touch one until there have been some kicking around upstate NY for a few years with all our lovely road treatments in the winter.

I'm not knocking the tech, just amused by marketing lines being parroted.

It's the potential repair costs that are the issue. This will take care of itself over time but some major insurers are very worried about these costs based on the executive claim leadership comments.

I read somewhere on here that Ford is going to subsidize the cost difference. If I can find the thread I'll post it

Edit: here it is, apparently ford will cover 20%
