For me, it was how well the transmission shift logic works in SPORT MODE.
It's almost always in the right gear for me, just like when I was driving any of my past manual performance cars, including rev matching downshifts when braking harder than normal. It hold grears longer before up shifting, downshifts sooner the harder I brake, and when braking downhill. Really get on it, then quickly get off throttle, and it'll hold the current gear until you ease back on the gas. The shift logic is just well engineered.
Normal mode tries to get in the highest gear possible as soon as it can. Not as fun for me, but better gas mileage I'm sure. I didn't buy it for gas mileage though.
I drove a new Mustag Gt Auto, in sport mode, for two days after the dealer de-horsed me while my new truck transferred from Virginia. The Mustang was a blast. I was surprised to find the same shift logic in the truck!
And, as a bonus, it turned out better looking than I initially thought it would. To me, anyway.
Edit, don't know how to fix goofed up thread topic question, dolp!

For me it was how much power they get out of the 2.7L Ecoboost engine. It is simply amazing. Had a 2012 with the 5.0 and this thing will out accelerate it anytime.

A: How pretty tuxedo black is when it is clean.
99% of people do not clean their vehicles so I had no idea how good looking of a color it was. Every vehicle I had seen it on was covered in dirt, swirls, etc so I didn't have a clue what it looked like. Bought my tuxedo black truck sight unseen.

I started reading good things/watching reviews, but was still a bit surprised when I drove one the first time.

My question is this. They supposedly tested the leather seats with 200+ pound men in jeans with sand on their butts over and over and over. They didn't find an issue with the leather stretching like so many of you guys have? And they didn't know the cooling portion is sub par? I'm lucky, I haven't experienced those two issues yet, but I don't use the cooled seats much

The biggest surprise to me was how quiet the truck is from the inside, even at 90 mph. The explanation that I heard is that aluminum transmits sound less readily than steel. That, and how well pro trailer backup assist really works. It still messes me up in turning, but wow on how much faster I can back up on a long straightaway.

That might be it for me too... I was shopping for a truck casually for a while, and didn't consider the 2.7 at first because I was assuming that it would be a somewhat weak engine. Years ago, my dad had a late 80's F150 with a 6 cylinder, and I just assumed that it was like that. Not a bad engine, but not all that robust. I started reading good things/watching reviews, but was still a bit surprised when I drove one the first time.
