What kind of craftsmanship is this?

I have the same ugly channels, though mine don't have welds that look anything like that.

Doesn't matter what trim level you get, it all goes down the same production line as the lowest priced work truck.
The reality is, Ford builds an affordable work truck. One reason they are the best selling is that they are the lowest price.
That weld may not be pretty, but I'm sure it will hold out the water for many years, as long as you keep it clean and waxed.

I agree that this should look more professional. Mine is not that bad, but it does look sloppy. The good thing is that it's on the roof so it doesn't show. "Out of sight, out of mind".

Sorry guys, maybe I'm misunderstanding. Is there a different kind of wax for this! I'm thinking Meguiars, but I may be way off here. Thanks.

Reading this thread, the part above caught my eye. So we need to keep that channel waxed in order for it to keep water out of the truck? How often and what wax is required to waterproof this channel? How many coats? I've never noticed any store-bought wax that's marketed as waterproof, but I've probably just never looked. Also, the truck manual should also mention this. Looks like an important omission to me.
