What advice would you give to someone who just purchased their first truck ever?

2015 Ford F-150 XLT Luxury Package - 3.5L Ecoboost, double panel moonroof, side mirror spot lights, chrom side step, sprayed-in bed liner, the list goes on

What upgrades would you recommend? This is all new to me, uncharted territory. lol

Take it back and get 4wd!

On a more serious note, it all depends on how you are going to use it?

Yep to both. Never log on. Most the time you see just the bad problems people are having. But congrats on your new truck. A lot of what to do to your truck depends on what are are going to do with it. Things I have done so far

Line-x liner
Undercover flex tonneau cover
Tinted the front windows
Getting solo exhaust

I would just focus on breaking your engine in proper for the first 1,000 miles per the manual. The manual is VERY vague and says to not "labor the engine" which means don't let it lug, struggle, in a gear that is too high.

So, I've been driving with my transmission in Sport mode, and, while on my 21 mile commute to work, and again back home, I will use the transmission manual gear selector to lock out 6th for a few miles, then 5th, and sometimes 3rd, so I have good streatches of engine RPM near 3.5K, 3K, 2.5K, and 2K RPM. Once in awhile I run at 4K rpm for a half mile. Slow city streats take care of the below 2K RPM range.

Also, get some super glue and glue down that little foam/rubber strip that fills the expansion/contraction joint in that plastic cowling up by the windshield wipers outside so you never have to see it fly away.

Enjoy that truck and go SLOW on the mods. Enjoy that process! I'm spending a few months just reasearching tonneau covers and enjoying every bit! ;-)

Hood / Paint protection.

Remove the front plate holder, unless you need it. (2 small clips on each side)

What do they consider too fast? Over 100mph?

Here are the things I've done to/for my truck:

OEM mudflaps. Help keep the truck cleaner than it would be otherwise.
AMP Bedstep corner step. Very handy.
Tonneau Cover. I chose a BAKFLIP HD. YMMV
WeatherTech (or Gorilla) custom mats

I'm going to get the Weathertech techmats for the bed and tailgate, too.

Good coat of wax. And then another. ScotchGuard your seats.

Drive it. In sport mode.

It looks like you got your truck from the same dealer I did as well. Great looking truck by the way!

Thank you all for responding. Yes, definitely a road trip in the works! The truck was maily purchased to accommodate a growing family. Needed a 6 seater for my 4 kids, wife and I. We do a lot of camping and fishing, so we needed the added space for hauling all of the equipment. A truck was the obvious choice. One day I plan to haul a boat, but that's well further in to the future lol. I'll start with tinting the windows, putting in a stubby antenna, removing the front plate, mud flaps, and custom rubber mats to easily clena. I can already tell the carpeted mats getting a bit dirty. Breaking in the engine is new to me, I'll have to read up on the manual or research other's experiences here. All in all, it's a fun ride, and I have not regrets on the purchase. Looking forward to a great experience with minimal issues hopefully.

aizdaman, glad to see a local here in the forums, and thanks for the comment!
