Westin HDX Grille Guard

Finally got the grill guard installed along with a lift. I love the way this looks on my truck! It does obstruct the front camera view a bit but can still see mostly through the mesh and have a clear view underneath it so I can tell if I'm going to bump into something. I really like the extra bar over the headlights vs. the Ranch Hand in case I hit a deer. Main reason I decided to go with the Westin though is because it is the most HD guard I could find in stainless steel. Really like the look with the chrome pkg. It feels super sturdy and seems like it will hold up well in a bad situation. Highly recommend just on looks alone and hope I won't find out about function but you never know. I can take more pics if anyone wants to see something specific. All mods listed in my sig.

I understand the purpose of the mesh, but for my use:
1) in the snow and ice, it is just going to ice close
2) in a deer hit (my desired purpose), I anticipate the mesh causing damage I wouldn't have without it.
Your thoughts?

Thanks for the photos. Can the Westin brush guard be installed without the mesh (i.e., is the mesh bolted on or does it have to be cut off)?

1. I live in East Texas so luckily I don't have to deal with snow and ice so I can't comment on this one
2. I would think that the welded mesh would only prevent further damage when hitting a deer, bird or other object. I hit a dove one time in my 2004 F150 going 80ish and it broke the grill and I had to get it replaced. Wouldn't have caused any damage at all if I had a mesh grille guard on it. As I said in my other post, one of the reasons I liked the HDX over the Ranch Hand (besides the stainless steel option) is because of the extra bar across the headlights for added protection. I feel the same with the mesh as it is there for extra protection and my guess is why most grille guards have it. If you don't really like the mesh I'm sure someone makes one that doesn't have it and probably has a different center bar design for protection of the grill. Good luck and am happy to answer any other questions about the HDX. I love it and think it is one of the best looking out there and feel that it will hold up well and prevent any additional damage to my truck if I ever hit anything.
