You guys all seem obsessed with how it looks. I don't care how it looks, except for the fact they are bigger than they have to be which leads to very poor visibility and blind spots.
What I don't like is the almost inability to reach the oil dipstick and the fact that I don't even have a d-stick for the transmission fluid. What! Am I supposed to pay the dealership, or some other mechanic just to check my tranny fluid, and there is no reason I should have to crawl under the truck just to check it.
They are just making it harder for those of us who work on our own vehicles. I put 250,000 miles on my 2001 in 11yrs, and to tell you the truth, I don't think my 2012 will make it anywhere near that.

The next truck I buy has to last at least 10-15 years for me to justify buying new. I'm a die-hard Ford guy, but my '06 is 8 years old and is already starting to see typical things falling apart that you'd expect to see on something twice its age. These '15's better hold up 15+ years or I'm changing brands...

Yes, it even says right in the owners manual, "the transmission dipstick, if so equipped" blah blah blah. They make it sound like it's and "option" you may have to special order. I am six foot tall, and to get to the engine oil dipstick I have to stand on something or lay across the top of the motor. You can almost get to it over the driver side fender but if you are wearing a jacket or something with zippers on it I wouldn't suggest it. This is for the 5.0L.

rmp213 In my opinion, new vehicles last much longer than ones from 20 years ago. I used to think like you, and still do, but carburetors and distributors sucked. As much as I love them, old cars sucked, and there's a reason most folks bought new ones every other year or so. They were way less reliable, but much easier and less expensive to fix and maintain.

So far.I don't like it. Then agaun I didn't like the last redisgn at first ether. But I hate the rear passenger windows on the screw. Round at the bottom, it looks bad. Also The windows look taller, which is a fail imo. Then the boxsides are too round... I could go on and on. I'll save it for when I see one on roads.
