Default Upgrade from 13 to 15?

Local dealer I get the truck serviced at since new called 2 weeks ago and asked if I wanted to sell, shortage of used F150s etc.
I figure it was a normal sales pitch as I also received a flyer in the mail from another local dealer.
My '13 KR (specs in my sig) has about 40K on it.
Besides a few minor things and a constant door squeak I've really enjoyed it. My first new vehicle and first truck.
For kicks I met with dealer and told them it'd have to be a no brainer to upgrade. I have a loan on the truck and some equity in it.
They have a loaded '15 KR very similar to my '13 but the '15 is a 5.0 4x4 and has ome of the new bells and whistles the '13 doesn't.

They are working up an offer. I guess I'll see what they come back with.
I did just read the 16s will have the trailer assist which the 15s don't have. I think that'd be nice to have unless I can get tow mirrors added to the 15. With my bed cover and an empty trailer I'm not the best at backing the thing up!

I guess the big thing will come down to is does it make financial sense to trade up. Guess I won't know till they come back with a package offer.

Thanks for reading and the thoughts

15s are soooo freakin nice!

I have the itch so bad to trade up, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel on getting my 2011 with 70k miles paid off, and I kinda promised myself I would take this truck to 150k before getting rid of it.

Every time I drive by the Ford dealer Im looking though. One of my vendors at work just got a supercab XL and I was going over it like looking at a Maserati or something. LoL

Good luck!!!

I did it...

My '13 was a great truck. I don't miss the truck itself, but I miss the way it looked. I got a lot of compliments on it. But I bought it on impulse because I had dumped my '11 lemon quicker than I thought I would and I needed a truck quick. Didn't really like the color (always been and always will be a dark color fan), the V8 felt gutless and the fuel economy was pretty poor even before the lift and tires, but otherwise it was a great truck with a ton of features for the money. Made off like a bandit when I sold it.

Then I got my '15. MSRP's between the trucks (The '13 was a 402a package with no further options) and my loaded 502a lariat Eco is about $10,000 difference here in Canada. The '15 feels like a vehicle that should cost $10,000 more. It is so much smoother, quieter, faster, better on fuel and has way more awesome features. Interior is of much higher quality and the truck feels more solid from the way the door closes to the way it holds the road. I love this truck and would absolutely buy one again. I will admit I wasn't sold on the look of it at first but now I think it is one of the prettiest large vehicles on the road. 10/10 for this truck.

If I end up buying out the lease I plan to build it up like the '13, I miss doing custom work like I have on every one of my trucks.

I think it will come down to seeing what payments will be and the overall balance owed on the 15.
I have an old Stang I'm restoring and going to sell. It has always been the plan to sell the Stang to pay off the truck and get rid of the payment...but if financially I can get a 15 and gain back 40K miles it might be tough to pass up.
I didn't think I'd consider buying a first year model but it seems many have had good luck with theirs.

Default Dealer offer update...

Attached is the window sticker for the '15 KR I'm looking into.
Also the window sticker for my '13 KR I'd be trading in.

I said I have X Plan option thru my job. They say X Plan for the '15 is $56584. Based on what I've been reading most are getting 10-12K below MSRP. So...I should be able to get the '15 priced b4 taxes, title etc. for around $50K?? No?

They originally offered me $31K for my '13 and said they can't do much on the X Plan price so they came back and said they could do $33,800 trade in value on the '13. The $33,800 seems to be pretty good based on what KBB says. KBB says $31,400-$32,200. I guess they are bumping the trade up to offset saying they can't go below X Plan price.

Thoughts?

HCFX, both trucks look great. It's actually hard to decide which I like better.

OP, if you like the 15 a lot more than your current truck, and finances aren't a problem, go for it. I can't see where it would be wise financially per se...

I think the only real wise financial decision with vehicles is to not buy one lol (ie run them until they break and are not worth fixing). I'm not saying that's what you should do, just saying financially it's the only thing that makes much sense. Pay it off, and turn it to dust. But where's the fun in that?

I would wait, the 2nd is almost here and that is when new incentives come out. It was also leaked by many-many sources that Ford is having a huge selling from 11/2-1/6/16.. It even mentions that 16s are included.

Thanks.
The extra ballpark $200 in added payment and much larger loan is what is holding me back....and knowing I can probably pay my '13 off in about 6mo after I sell one of my Stangs. Tho a 15 with no miles and more bells and whistles would be nice...but no Max Tow package...which would be nice too. I'm a finance guy so getting rid of the current payment I think is gonna win this decision!
The dealer told me they are gonna be offering X plan to everyone thry the EOY starting next month which has been said on the forum.

What I am doing is waiting for that and using invoice as a starting price for negotiations. The dealer is making alot of money as they not only get their dealer holdback, they also get their normal factory incentive PLUS 500 or so dollars from Ford. There are a ton of 15s still out there too, no reason why you cannot get 2k below invoice PLUS applicable incentives.
