Uncomfortable Multi-countour seats on platinum
#31
I find them very comfortable, But when you turn them off, they seem to kinda pump up on lower back. then release. I had to press the round switch towards back to decrease the lumbar support. As I felt it was pushing into my back a bit too much. maybe?

Don't do the wallet in back pocket (how did this ever make sense). Had 3 guys (much larger and ex-college football, taller and bigger) sit in them and thought they were great (they didn't drive for long distance). I will try to compare to other Platinum seats next weekend.
Thanks again, it is seeming like it is me, not truck/seat issue.

I just got my king ranch and love the seat, the lumbar and massage stuff is eh. I personally put those all the way down so they are completely deflated and I dont feel them. You may have some anatomy difference with your back, maybe going to doctor get some xrays and such might help. To see is there anything off about your posture of your back that maybe the contour in these seats are effecting.

Update: so yesterday I was so frustrated with seat that I was jamming some extra padding onto the lumbar area and getting ready to go to an upholstery shop to make seat more comfortable.....while doing this, I was putting a lot of pressure on the seat...thats when I heard an air leak. Now the seat is extremely comfortable. So what I think was happening is that the lowest lumbar support area would not fully deflate (even thought the settings said it was deflated). This lowest lumbar level was pushing directly on my belt line and I couldn't get my butt into the seat the way it was designed...so the whole ergonomics were all off. Now that that this is deflated, they seat is perfect and no complaints. I can get my butt deeper into the seat, the back of the seat doesn't have a big lump in it, because I can get back in the seat further I am getting more thigh support. Couldn't be happier now. I was thinking I might unhook battery to re-set computer? But very happy about the situation and loving the truck. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Have the same issue on a 2014 FX4, put more foam in the bottom to raise up the seat, and disconnected the lumbar t has helped a lot but not completely, the issue for me is sinking into the seat, cushions on top are not ergo positive, lift from the bottom up

Mine frequently keeps the driver's left seat cushion balloon inflated and feels like I'm sitting on a rock. It's getting fixed for the 3rd time once the parts come in.

6'1'' 220lb... I don't think I have long legs, but I sure wish the seats had longer thigh support (many seats have the ability to extend out further for support) and padding. The current seats are nothing like the previous platinum gen seats. I compared a lot of different vehicles before I bought this truck and I initially thought the seats were firm, but would loosen up (a brand new car vs 15,000 miles into its life can be very different). After a 15 minute ride, no big deal, 30 minutes of driving and I am very uncomfortable. I was unaware that this seat been used in previous Fords? If so, could you let me know which models? My impression was that these are newly designed for this truck? but if used before I might browse other forums to see if anyone else has similar issues and if they found a solution. Thanks
The problem Fords 2015 seat design was adversely affected by the emphasis on reducing vehicle weight. That sacrificed comfort, durability and seat quality. Just look at the TSB for the overheating seats, the fix (patch) cuts up your seats! Ok, cut my seats to pieces on my new $50-$65k trucks!!
Besides seats being uncomfortable, how is your left knee? Ford removed the padded doors which offered some comfort, to those whose knees hit the door.
Only fix, pull the seats out of a 2014, those were thicker and much more comfortable. Or find someone who builds custom seats, have them try and increase the cushion quality and thickness. Or as you said, get out of the 2015 F150 trucks!
For some people this goes beyond being a little uncomfortable and is not a choice, some have injuries or medical conditions that require extra comfortable seats. Fords luxury $50,000 and more trucks, should have luxurious seats, not thin wannabes!
And seats, why are seats even a thread topic? Haven't manufacturers built enough seats over the years that they should have figured out how to build high quality comfortable seats that work?
For those who disagree, that's fine, everyone has the right to express their opinions.
Finally, and undeniably, Ford still builds the best trucks!

The massager and lumbar are the same and they are just inflatable air bags not more the 2mm thick, so unless there is some residual air in them they really shouldn't be an issue. If you use the four way rocker switch by the power seat controls you can inflate the lumbar a little and then deflate them, and when you deflate them push your back into the seat back so the air bags get totally deflated (see owners manual for the rocker switch instructions). Those seats also hurt my lower back for the first month, but have been getting better over time.
