Yea I've decided to pass on using the tuner just too much risk plus a co-worker wants to use this tuner on his 07 Mustang. I'm only assuming it will work for his car once he orders some new tunes for his car.

Correct, it will be locked to that VIN. (Until he returns to stock)

Just to clarify for me - w/ the SCT, you can always go back to stock? In other words, does it keep a 'backup' of the stock tune?

Yes, it copies the stock file. That way you can put it back to stock whenever you want.

But it leaves a mark in the engine computer that it had been modified so if Ford checks the log they will know. I have a 2014 Mustang and am going through the same thing - I have the tuner but am waiting to use it until i get a few more miles on the engine incase of any warrant issues - the engine is about the only thing I haven't touched yet.

Some software allows you to purge the flash logs. My Triumph ECU mapper allowed this.

Tuning my ecoboost was the single best mod I have ever done. I have 5* tunes due to the fact they are the only ones who will warranty their tunes, that in itself says a lot. After tuning my truck it made me think wtf was ford thinking with the stock tune, it's borderline dangerous. 5 star's shift strategy, torque and pull are amazing and how the truck should have been from the factory. That lame ***** throttle delay is pretty much gone now, transmission shifts smoother and my mpg's have gone up at least 2 if I keep my foot out of it.
