Default truck bed/cap mod for your dogs in the cold weather.

Drive the pups in the back all the time, want to be able to do it even if its 2 degrees out. So put in a little 600w heater under their beds. Rode around in the back tonight and it works well. Granted it's 38 out right now but it seems like it puts enough heat out that it should be fine in once the real cold sets in. The battery in the back can run for about 1-2 hours without the truck on, but charges off the main battery when the truck is on.

I do have a topper, but all they get is a blanket. They're good.

A fair amount of time a blanket is all they need. But when its well below freezing for 2-3 months a year and I want to take them on a road trip I feel better about it. They don't mind the cold but they aren't huskies either.

Cool setup! I'm curious to get more details about the heater and battery setup. How'd you connect the battery so it charges off the main battery? Which heater did you go with?

Got the heater through amazon. They have a bunch of similar but slightly different models. The seller was good with communication.

The battery is wired to connect to the main one but has a solenoid to keep it from draining the main battery if the car is off and heater is on. Going to put in another solenoid so that the button they installed up front will allow for it to be turned on and off, which doesn't work right now.

This is how they went through the bed.
