Towing with 2.7L Ecoboost
Just wonder what you have towed with your 2.7 how much weight and pictures if you have them. Also how did it do while towing.
I'm thinking about getting a TT and just wondering weight wise where I should be. I know of my 4X screw is 7600#'s.
Here is the trailer weight rating for the Super Crew 2.7l
This is for the SuperCab

Towed a Ford Ranger (~3000lbs) in an enclosed trailer (~2000lbs) and had no issues. Truck was comfortable at 60 mph, no weight distribution hitch either. I normally only tow about a 1000lbs. No levelling kit, truck squatted about 4" in the rear and was level. I'll try and find pics.

All about PurPlazur
I tow my boat - 4,600 lbs - with passengers and weekend gear. No issues except for an increase in gas consumption but no worse than my buddy's V8 Silverado towing the same weight.

Here is the kicker to me the 2009 F150 with a 5.4L and 3.73 gears can haul 11,300#'s and it has 320 HP and 390 FT LB of torque. Those numbers are almost identical to the 2.7L HP and TQ numbers. Why are we handcuffed to the 7600 pounds. Seem like we should be able to tow much more than 7600 pounds.
I know that there are new SAE J2807 requirements but that is still a big difference. I'm wondering if Ford did not want the 2.7 stepping on the toes of the 5.0 or 3.5EB. I'm guessing that the 2.7 could safely tow well over 8K safely with a WD hitch. Not that I would IMO. I have done a lot of research.
2009 f150 Screw tow guide- interesting.

What type of enclosed trailer? I ask because 2K lbs is really low for an enclosed-the smallest I have seen is 3000 and it goes up from there.

Has less to do with the 2.7's capability and has everything to do with the fact that the 5.4 shouldn't have been rated at 11K+ lbs to begin with. Anyone who towed with that motor (and was honest with themselves) knows that it really couldn't hang once you started hitting 8k lbs and above. It just didn't have the guts for that kind of load.
The 5.4 was a great motor-when it debuted in '97 (and was reworked in '04). It really shouldn't have hung around as long as it did.
