Are they assuming if you're towing over 5k that your trailer then has brakes and you need the controller? The stab bar is just a nice convenience but not required for 7600lbs but I would for sure want a trailer with brakes.

For you to tow the 7600 you speak of, you will need WDH, the 5000 gouldje is talking about is HITCH only!!!!!

I just ordered a truck with 2.7 3.55 with out the tow package but I ordered the brake controller. The truck I ordered comes with the hitch. The only thing you get with the trailer tow pkg. is tranny cooler, heavy duty front sway bar. To me damn sure not worth $700. I only tow my enclosed Harley trailer and if I ever need to tow more weight I can always add a tranny cooler for a lot less money and the heavy duty sway bar don't mean **** to me.

Out of curiosity, what is the brake setup on that trailer? Not many boat trailers set up with electric brakes. Most are just surge brakes, especially at that weight.

I'm not sure what a WDH is but I'm pretty sure my class IV is rated for well over 7600lb but I'm not sure my breaks could stop that much weight!

when you go to ford's website under build and price look at the details and it will have the spec's and what it includes. But remember it could vary depending on the motor, bed and cab options. i was looking at crew, 3.5L. 4x4, 5.5 bed.

WDH- weight distributing hitch

for trailers with electric brakes - first thing to do is go slow and squeeze the controller levers and make sure they bite and adjust +/- gain to get desired braking force, the more weight the more "bite" or braking force. when i tow a heavy trailer over 5k i make sure the trailer brakes has the ability to stop both truck and trailer. for instance i hook up, coast down driveway at maybe 5mph and set brakes to stop truck and trailer. and then at first stop sign i will adjust up or down. this is my preference.

Read up on Ford's web site, without WDH you SHOULDN'T tow 7,600!!!!!

Look under your trucks hitch at the stick, your class IV will only be good to 5,000 without the WDH!!!!!

But some people tow what ever they want, so your truck can tow more then 5,000 but the ? is should you?

Mine is a Lariat 502A package and listed under 'other options' is: Trailer Tow Package $495.00 and further down: Integrated Trailer Brake $275.00.

I don't know which package this is.

Quick Reply: Tow package..?
