Absolutely, and if you have no state laws regulating, then go for it! If you are just being a and you do have laws that regulate it, then I hope you get a ticket!
Maybe if you listed a location, folks can make a more informed response for you!

Location aside, just wanted to know what others had done to match the rears

I'm tinting my truck with illegal tint. I don't care if I get pulled over. I'll just pay the fine or have one of my police friends write off the ticket. I do it because it gets really hot here and my truck won't fit in my garage. I want to protect the interior until I find a place with a bigger garage.

5% on the front and 5% over the factory tint in the rear .. Has anyone tinted the windshield yet? I'm having doubts about tinting mine due to the lane departure camera installed in the rear view, I'm afraid it'll throw it off

I get as dark as I want. The Pigs will always find a reason to hassle you no matter what.

I went with 15% on front, 30% over rear colored glass and 70% clear blue over the complete front windshield with 15% glare strip.
The type of film and darkness will depend on your desired look and benefits.
Personally (living in Florida) I went with Huper Optik Ceramic film. My main goal was to reject heat. This stuff is amazing.
For those questioning tinting the windshield, the best way I can describe it if like wearing polarized sunglasses. It cuts the sun's glare during the day and helps a lot with oncoming headlights at night without making windshield dark.
