I have noticed that when I have my hitch mounted bike carrier installed, the tailgate does not lock.

I always leave the key Fob inside the car while I am bike riding and use the door code for locking and unlocking so i don't have to carry the Fob.

When I check the doors, they are locked but when I check the tailgate, it opens. What am I missing here?

When the hitch mounted bike carrier is not installed, the tailgate locks just fine.

First things first, are you sure that when the bike rack isn't installed, locking the doors with the keypad does in fact lock the tailgate? For some reason, I was thinking it didn't. But I could be wrong on that.

I have a hitch bike carrier, i'll put it in and see if i have the same problem.

I checked mine and it locks the tailgate with the keypad with fob inside. I don't have a bike rack to test otherwise. Where do you keep the fob inside the truck?
