swapped manual fold tow mirrors for power fold/extend - not working
What did I miss? 2015 XLT.
I purchased power extend/fold tow mirrors from someone on this forum and purchased the correct switch from TASCA. Put it all together and power fold/extend does not work.
I don't think I have the wrong mirrors as the 22 pin connector is almost fully populated where-as my manual fold mirrors was not.
Does this require programming? If so, how?
Hopefully, this is simple and I just did something wrong. All the rest of the features, power glass, spot, heat, puddle work.
I push the fold/extend button so the light is on. I then use the joypad down for fold and nothing happens. I use the joypad left or right and nothing happens.

I'm sure its possible go to the dealer ask them to program and see if it works. I know if you install the OEM brake controller in to the factory harness it will not work until you have it programmed by the dealer.

I checked into doing this a while back and was told that you need to get it re programmed at the dealer when install is complete.

Does anyone have actual experience? Reading through the various mirror threads, no one has said programming is required except in the case of swapping from a 8 wire harness to a 22 pin harness.

I'm guessing you swapped the harness?? There is a relay for the extended mirror part so I would say your truck is missing that. For them to fold you probably have to get the door modules reprogrammed.....good luck

If you work for Ford, I might think you could have some inside knowledge to know what my next step should be.

I've never done a mirror swap like that but if all the wiring is there then I would say all you need to do reprogram the modules. There is a relay for the extended mirror part & I'm sure your truck doesn't have it, it might not have the wiring running from the bjb but I'm not sure.
