Interesting. So it looks like someone, either Ford, Kicker, or Sony did the engineering on the box, and Kicker and Sony both get to use their own branded drivers on the same box with perhaps the same amplifier. You can see on the above picture it says Kicker on the dust cover as well as at the top of the box.

Either way, it looks like only about 8", with maybe about 1 cubic feet of air, and maybe 25 or 50 watts max to drive it, so it still isn't going to kik that hard no matter what brand is on it.

A powered Bazooka sub will probably outperform either by a wide margin, but this requires a DIY install or you pay an installer. Subwoofers really round out a decent sound system.

Snapped a pic of the sub when I was on my drive, You cant see much, but its behind the seat on the wall. Could not hear any rattling so they did have it mounted well.

Question Subwoofer location?

Is the subwoofer in the Sony package on the 2015 Lariat the same as the 2013 FX4, where it is on the floor in the back under the single folding seat?

Like this: http://www.snapbug.ws/images/stereo_install_007.jpg

Or is it tucked away so you have the full floor space to load items?

The Bazooka is a great option. I have it in the back of my truck with upgraded Hertz speakers all around and it sounds fantastic.

I would bet your best value would be to get the Sony system and Kicker sub (for the XLT, non 302A), and replace the factory door speakers with your choice of after market that fits. I went whole hog on my Mustang and love the end result, esp with the dual 12" subs in the trunk.

It is in a different location on the 2015.Back behind the seat mounted to the rear wall and the floor is wide open now.

I have a 2015 Lariat with the sony and wasn't very impressed with the sub.2 weeks ago i bought the kicker 40cwrt81.With a little modification inside the box it fits in and screws fast.I poly filled the sub enclosure as well. Its not like have having a custom system but Its definitely a nice improvement over stock.
