My favorite look is chrome and black. The only truck I built for myself was such a scheme and I loved it. The only thing I didn't love about it was that keeping it clean was a full time job. Where I live, a good portion of the year, keeping it clean was either a lost cause or meant parking it in a garage until the weather broke.
I'm older with a lot less time for such activities, so I've opted to go the way of "function over form" in more recent years. Still love the look though...

My 2008 F150 XLT SuperCrew was a black and chrome truck. Specifically it was the Texas / Oklahoma Edition. Chrome step bars, chrome wheels, chrome bumpers, and chrome grill. To be perfectly honest, I didn't care for the look too much. I like chrome as an accent color on certain colored trucks. I don't mind the bumpers and wheels being chrome, but the grills are so large on trucks that I tend to find it revolving. I really don't like the chrome door handles, chrome fender flares, and mirror caps attractive at all. Well, chrome fender flares don't belong on anything. They are fugly as hell regardless of the application.
I think blacked out vehicles lack contrast. I think they need some sort of accent color and chrome is good for that when used sparingly. Vehicles such as the Oxford white or Magnetic colored trucks that have blacked out wheels and emblems accomplish the goal of having two colors. One main color, and a contrasting color which brings out the details.
Having said all of that, what annoys me more than chrome is seeing a truck that's white, red, blue etc. (anything but black really) with chrome features and black step bars, or a black brush guard or bull bar added into the mix creating two contrasting and conflicting colors.

Minus the obviously chrome grill, I think the truck in the post above is a good example of chrome used appropriately. It's a nice contrast on a black truck and looks good. From the front, it would be a wall of chrome thanks to the huge grills on these things.

Would love to see what a 3 bar black Lariat grille with chrome wheels, door handles, and side mirrors would look like. With all the trucks that I have seen(2015-2016) since wanting to upgrade, that configuration escapes me. I really want to mimic what I have now with the new model. Can't find it from the factory though, would have to do some work(mod wise). Although, with the new grilles, I'm not sure if a chrome bumper to black grille set up would look right.

It escapes you because you can't order it from the factory. I know McClintoc's truck on this forum has a Sport grill / black grill installed on a truck that came with chrome bumpers, step bars and wheels. I don't believe he has the chrome mirror caps or door handles. That may be as close as you'd see. Personally I think the chrome mirror caps might be too much in your example, but the grill is the biggest problem on the chrome trucks. Its just too much in my opinion.
