Quick questions for camper shells owners ;
- What is the height clearance inside those standard height shell ? (The ones that are at the same exterior height as the roof of the F150)
- Are they waterproof ?
Thanks!

Waterproof?
Absolutely!!!
Unless you get a Leer with poor window seal designs and thin fiberglass that flexes under load........coupled with a business that does not stand behind their produce

On down the highway

36 at the gate (i have a bed liner thats probably 1/2"?
Water proof...cap is, no 2015+ bed and gate are... without a bed liner there are drainage areas where you can see the street from the bed.
The tailgates have about a 1/2" gap where you can see daylight thru it...shop that installed mine added a tailgate seal along the sides...
So with a liner and gate seal..mine stays dry even thru car washes

I wonder if anybody makes a slide-in, over-roof camper shell, but as just a shell, nothing in it except windows/doors/vents. I'd like to customize/finish it myself. The "regular" slide-in's are too heavy, too complex, and too expensive! I'd love to have a very simple unit with a bed over the cab, and a simple portable seating area/table on the floor. Wire it up for some LED's and a fan, and call it done.
If anyone knows of a mrg'r of an empty shell similar to what I'm describing above, please post a link/info.

I have asked for a price quote for the 100XR. I like the option of sliding windows so my dogs can stick their head out if they are riding. I am gonna reach out to a ARE dealer and do the same and compare pricing.
Hopefully the price won't be too crazy. Maybe $2000 with some options?

I had the top of the line Leer all decked out with options on my 2006 Duramax and it was a horrible cap! I would never buy a Leer again. They look good but that is it. I would go ARE if I did a cap again. In fact I hated the Leer so much I didn't go topper on my 2015 F150 I went with a revolver x2 and have been happy so far.
Biggest issue I had with Leer is I couldn't get the rear glass to line up and reliably close and lock to save my life. I also had issues with the side window vents breaking the second time I used them.
