I put a retrax on my 08 F250 7 years ago this March. When I put it on initially it let in very minimal drops of water. After 7 years it does leak more than when it was new but only around the edges and tailgate area. Everything in the middle still stays dry. It does rattle when the rear window is open but other than that I don't hear it.

I am looking for a cover for 15 platinum and the Retrax is in the running. The other cover I am really looking at is fold a cover but it is hard to find good updated information on this cover. I would not hesitate to purchase another retrax as it has been a good cover and done a good job.

The owner of the truck accessories shop I bought my retrax from said if it leaks bring it back cause it needs to be adjusted. It should not leak if installed and adjusted properly. The only leakage I get is around the tailgate (need a tailgate seal) but that has nothing to do with the cover. It does make a little noise at highway speeds but you cant hear it unless the back slider is open. Mine started out on my 2010, then moved it to my 2011, and now it is on my new 2014. It still works like new but I guess it will have to stay with this truck since my next truck will be a newer body style and wont fit.

I had a Retrax on my 06 for 6 years and absolutely loved it. It barely leaked in the constant Florida rain. I'm sure if I adjusted it it would have sealed a bit better but the little amount of water didn't bother me. Now the canister was a little annoying. I'm a contractor so I needed most of the little 5.5' bed. I opted for the roll x on my 2013 because it doesn't use a canister. I've had the roll x for a year and it keeps the bed completely dry.

I've had mine about 2 weeks, got hit with 1 torrential storm, a little moisture around the gate, maybe a little here and there on the sides. No infiltration at all at car washes. No rattle at all, Zero! not on the highway or in city. The main "Rub" for some is the space you lose. The canister may be 11" X 11" but you will lose about 14" or 15" of your bed because the canister is not attached flush to the end of the bed and the roll top does not retract completely into it. One point to take note of is that you do have full access to the bottom of the bed under the canister up to 10". I have the same color truck as James, so for all Ruby Reds the matte finish is perfect. Quality is great install easy.

I debated a number of covers as well and decided on the Retrax Pro MX. Couple of the reason that effected my decision included... Folding Covers required that they be open prior to shutting the tailgate, this feature eliminated these as a consideration. I currently have a roll up / vinyl which works well, but has some "flapping" noise under crosswinds and wanted something different. I considered the impacts of the canister for the retractable and they were all in the same range plus / minus a few inches.

I review my use of the truck in my mind for the last 7 years and could only count a handful of time that this space might have been a concerned and they I took into account that I have a 14 foot utility trailer and decided that I would go with the retrax after looking at a number o retractable covers and their review... Truck is at dealer, Retrax was ordered Friday from the dealer, can't wait to see it installed...
