Default Remote start - not added to trip calculations

Noticed when I remote start the truck, it does not subtract fuel or add time or change fuel economy setting of the trip. I set it for 30 minutes but I guess if the truck is not keyed on it does not count for totals.

How about the miles to empty,, I thought I saw mine going down one time I was sitting in the truck with it still running on remote start.

Yeah, I think I heard that it does not affect the calculated MPG, which I thing is totally wrong on Ford's part. What difference should it make whether your key is on or not, truck is still using gas and should be factored into the mpg IMO.

That's one reason probably such a difference in what the truck calculates and REAL mpg. I guess it is Ford's way to make you think you are getting better mpg than you really are.

You need your truck to warm up for 30 minutes?

Maybe it was REALLY cold out, or he was just testing it that long to see if it changed any readings...

I noticed the same thing. My dash is saying I'm getting the same MPG as I did in summer. Yet when I hand calculate I am 1 or 2 MPG less than I was when I hand calculated in summer.

I didn't even know you could do it for 30 minutes. I thought 15 was the max.

Seems to me that MPG should relate more to actual driving time. Time spent warming up the engine does not reflect driving habits. I would want to know how my driving style affects MPG

15 minutes is the max unless he has an aftermarket remote start.
