Default Refrigerator vs 15 F150 roof/power back glass

If you have a million things on your mind like I do, you will understand this accident. So I was bringin a fridge to one of my rent houses in the bed of my new truck and naturally it was dark and I was by myself wondering how I'm going to unload the thing; started backing up and miss judged how high the carport was (it was dark) and smashed the fridge against my roof denting it up pretty bad and shattering all 3 windows of my back glass. I was scared of the price it was going to hit my insurance for, but to my surprise it wasn't so bad, $3,400 total rearing everying! FYI the rear power glass is more expensive then the whole roof! Pics soon

Reminds me of a thread I saw several years ago on another forum about a bad experience hauling a fridge. http://www.f150online.com/forums/gen...t-my-luck.html

Hind sights 20/20, I bought a used one for the rental property because they tear them up anyways, just one of those things that happens I guess!

Yes, the things we do.
I bought an upright. Didn't have it tied in place properly.
Almost home and it started tipping backward.
I saw it tipping and tapped the brakes. It stood back up and I made it home intact.
Never again.

Took my SIL's fridge home without incident. Had more straps tied to that thing than I could count. Ran out of places to put the hooks.

Trick is to transport it laying on its side, propped up at the top (to keep fluids from coming out of the compressor) and strap it down good, with the tailgate closed. I've transported two that way, I would never transport anything tall if I could lay it down.
