Default recon tailgate led bar

I recently installed RECONS TAILGATE LIGHT BAR on my 2015 lariat. The bar automatically deactivates the blind spot system when plugged into the trailer lights connector. I am going to send this back if there it isn't a solution. did anybody else have this problem and is there a fix. Asked RECON but they never responded back.

I believe the only way around this is to wire directly to your lights, Not sure if you can tell the system in your dash display to remove the trailer if that would solve the problem.

Default LED Light Bar and keep blind spot activated - BLIS

Solution

If you wire an LED light bar to the trailer harness, BLIS will be deactivated. You'll need to wire directly to your back lights. It's simple... The tail light wires you need are as follows:

Left tail light:

Left blinker is brown/green stripe
Tail light is blue/silver stripe
Reverse light is green/brown stripe

Right tail light:

Unfortunately, there are two wires same color. The right light is purple/pink stripe. To help you, it's in the same position as the left light wire on the left side.

Ground:

On either side, there are ground wires above the spare.

These instructions assume you know how to make the connections and you know which wires from the 4pin adapter are left, right, tail, and ground. If not, the internet won't let you down.

I have a 2016 F150 SCREW Platinum

For a 16 with BLIS, all wires above are correct except left turn is a gray wire with brown stripe. Also, for right signal, it's the purple wire with pink stripe that's right next to the black wire with yellow stripe.

Thanks for this, will def come in handy for me as well!!

Did you guys remove the tail lights to hardwire right behind them? Did you run a dedicated power line to somewhere else?

TIA

Remove tail lights for sure and hard wire into them. I took power from the battery.
