Thanks for the update. This issue needs to be elevated to the CEO of Ford, and not the hotline. The time for head scratching and picture taking should have already passed. Keep us informed!

We could send to @Ramtrucks.... Just kidding, I love 99.5% of this thing.
Let's just kick it this problem over the goal line Ford.... and don't pass when you have Marshawn Lynch!!!!

Standing around and scratching one's head, now that's a novel repair method?
Honestly, I'm a hands on guy and made a living "fixing stuff".
I have not the least idea if it can be fixed (probably can, somehow!) or needs a replacement armrest that's smaller overall, in size. Has anyone taken the armrest/backrest assy. out of the truck and looked at it from the standpoint of "if" a repair is possible? never heard mention of someone taking the seat apart here-it's not hard on any vehicle. The tag as to who did the seats is likely there too. I've seen them many times and some are hidden inside the covers too. What about the "wax it suggestion" I made earlier? Don't laugh, wax makes things slide. What about the "hinge area of the arm rest-can it be enlarged to allow the arm to enter the space more easily?
Bottom line is what fixes it? , not what doesn't and all that's been mentioned on this forum has never once included the simple fact of an attempted fix?
I assume that it's a "Ford does something", cause we cannot situation?
As for loose leather-I've viewed pics here(not actual truck upholstery) and a few looked sorta loose but most did not and I have not see any really bad cases here in pics? Wetting leather is a sure way to harden and ruin it, not shrink it!!! To make cowboy boot tops larger but not to shrink leather-yukkk1 don't do it! Water is the "arch enemy" of leather.

The armrest sticking out in the platinum and KR is not acceptable. As others have stated, it does not stick out on my Lariat.
Like someone else stated, stick a child's seat in there and see what Ford says.
Ford sounds like they are starting to be like Harley.

Easy way to get ford's attention
Mount a kid's seat into the center position on a King Ranch. Take a picture. Mount the same seat on a Lariat. Take a picture. Send both pictures to the NHTSA and CC Ford with the same info:

Nobody fools around with kid seat problems these days.

If I was driving my brand new truck down the road and the leaf spring broke, could I fix it? Yes. Will I? F*** No.
I don't challenge the mechanical ability of any person on this forum, as more than a few are probably quite capable of fixing a lot of things. The point of this is its a factory defect and needs to be fixed by the manufacturer.
I get it. You're a hand-man. It's evidenced by almost every post of yours. Whether you're taking a seat apart, re-painting parts on your truck, educating people on headlights- I get it, you're a do it yourself kind of guy. With all due respect, you're starting to wear me out with it.
This is the 2015 forum. There really shouldn't be any "How to fix...." threads anywhere, aside from some plug and play parts or something that a user broke.

This is definitely a problem for anyone using a child seat in the center seat. Especially a child using a booster seat because their headrest will not be inline with the seat back which I think would be a big problem in a front end impact. I have a KR on order and this will definitely be a big issue for me and my family. If Ford tells me they cannot fix it I will be filling a complaint with every government agency I can find.

Maybe FordService will check this post. Hope so.
1st photo shows the carseat in the middle seat, with the armrest refusing to go in the whole way. This prevents the bottom of the car seat to rest flush against the bottom of the seat, preventing the car seats buckle from tightening further. This creates more than the recommended 1" of wiggle room in the car seat. Unsafe.
2nd photo shows the carseat in the rear seat behind the passenger. If you can't tell, it's flush against the top and bottom of the seat. This allows me to adjust the straps as tight as they need to be tightened, to obtain the recommended 1" or less wiggle room with the seat. Safe, but not the ideal position for a car seat. I believe the safest place for a carseat to be is in the rear middle seat. This is not obtainable in my vehicle as of right now.
3rd photo shows the degree to which the armrest sticks out in my particular vehicle.
