I replaced the solenoid today and still not fixed. Today I check the operation of this check valve and it seems to be faulty. I can blow air both ways through this valve. one way is harder than the other but still I can blow air through it and I should not be able to. I believe this check valve is at fault. I will go to dealer tomorrow and purchase this part and report back.

f150 4x4 iwe check valve

Oh I will let ford know that I am not please with Houston Autonation Ford dealer.

I do not have another 4 days or longer for them to troubleshoot a simple vacuum system.

if your truck is having the iwe symptoms and the dealer cannot figure it out try replacing this valve hose assembly, it contains the faulty check valve that was messing up my IWE's. I posted a video of the symptoms a few post back before this one. $20.00 part and I am back to loving my truck again. My ****ty *** dealer had my truck for four days and did not fix anything. I figured it out in about 2hrs and $40.00 dollars later.

Same problem here, dragging sound in low RPM and stops as soon as 4A is engaged. I have worked with the dealer over and over on this issue. Had my truck for an entire week for this time as well is a ford sync issue (2nd visit on this one)

They are now blaming me, saying that my K&N CAI was installed incorrectly and that the vacuum line coming off of it is damaged. $89 for the hose and free labor since I have had so much trouble. Hopefully this fixes it, hose is back-ordered, so won't know till next week if it is truly the solution. I honestly don't believe them but I need my truck back and I am willing to believe anything.

My ford sync is another thing...supposedly the ford engineers have been called. I have a yellow question mark on the home screen where the compass usually is. Been this way since delivery. I googled and found FSA 15B32 and it covers all the issues I have been having.

FYI, I don't know if anyone has ever had luck with Tommy Vaughn in the Heights (Houston, TX), but stay clear. I am now working directly with the service manager because of their incompetent service advisers.

I had this issue in my 07 F150 4x4 due to getting moisture in the solenoid. The sound in gut wrenching to hear as you feel you are tearing the bearings and gears to shreds. Mine only acted up when i turned the wheels in either direction. I never had the issue in my 14 but i never did any mods to it. Just got a 15 FX4 that will be getting a lift and new rims and tires next week. We shall see what comes of it. Thanks for the shares and insight as it all is educational.

Default IWE problem was resolved but now back again

I figured out that by playing with the 4WD ****, popping into 4WD and then back to 2WD, while moving slowly (say 10-15 mph) after a few times the hub would not disengage all the way and would produce a heavy grinding (like when you turn the wheel full in 4WD). I had the service manager riding with me and he could hear it no problem and also feel it pull in the steering wheel. This was different than the clicking/grinding noise I would get on cold start, but it proved to the dealer that the issue was real. So anybody who cannot produce the sound when you take it ion for service, try this and I was able to make it happen every time.
So after 3-4 months of no issues and just over 6,000 miles on the truck, the grinding in the left front hub is back same as before. The dealer says they will replace the IWE assembly again but I'm not getting a lot of response as to when...so frustrating.

I did some reading and there were a large number of those units made in 2015 in Mexico that were manufactured with a crack. Mine would seal when the grease got hot and the IWE got warm and expanded. Only happened when stone cold, below 3 deg c and was as predictable as hell.

Makes perfect sense why mine does not react as often when it is wet or humid outside though on a dry day, especially a dry cold day, it happens non-stop.

I am not kidding how predictable it was, I could never get it to happen at the dealer. Left it overnight and no go they said, but it was not cold enough.

So.... I told the Service manager to come to my house, off we went, he asked when I said not yet, what a bout he asked, not yet I said, then I turned to him and said NOW and voila, it was that predictable after a cold start.

If we drove on the weekend for a long afternoon drive cruising snow back roads and generally getting getting lost, it would do it to start, I would slip it into 4 high a couple of times and it would go, then an hour later I could slip it into 4 high drive for an hour, hit pavement and pull it out of 4H and 2 minutes later it would grind. It was that predictable. After more shoots to high and it would stop.

Another note, we were all sure it was the drivers side, they pulled it apart and it was not, turns out it was the passenger side, I would have bet a 1000$ on the drivers side? It was the way the sound moved in the engine compartment. Go figure and be aware!

I had an 08 that had this issue and it was the 4x4 vacuum actuator for the front hubs went bad and was slightly engaging the hubs enough to make a slight grinding noise, they replaced the part and of course both front hubs because of the damage it caused, problem solved.
