This isn't really new, my 06 was the same way. I was kind of annoyed by it but moved on and really forgot about it.

My take is this, is it going to ruin your life, no. BUT people are letting things slide that they never would for something else they paid 50k for. It is NOT acceptable for them to just hand you a new vehicle and say, sorry we messed up, deal with it.

Just because it's a little defect does not make it okay in my book. Stand by your product, especially when it's brand spanking new.

Time to Lawyer up. If they won't listen to reason, let them listen to your lawyer.

I'm kind of on the fence as to whether that would bother me or not. But it bothers you, that what matters.

It does bother me. Ford wants to increase customer satisfaction and loyalty, this is not how you do it. I also own a 13 Boss 302 plus two other mustangs, so I'm definitely loyal, but quality like this could easily make me switch to another brand. I've owned several cobras, Lightnings and two other F series, this quality is unacceptable and embarrassing

I have owned, two Escorts, one Thunderbird, two Mustang Cobras, one Taurus, and four new F150s. Quality has been all over the map from Ford. From nearly flawless to horrible. Honestly I don't buy Ford cars anymore because of quality issues. The Mustangs and the Taurus were horrible. I went Honda, now Acura and have not looked back. But trucks, the Japanese do not build a good truck. The options are Ford, GM, and Dodge. I like the Fords best out of the available options. My new F150, the fit and finish could be better but the truck seems to be solidly built. Time will tell.

I'm still trying to like my purchase for a product that has the best truck design, technology, great performance, sub par mpg, bad workmanship and a lot of production issues. I can still live happy and enjoy my truck as of the moment because I understand every vehicle has issues. This is my first Ford and maybe my last depending how these issues are being addressed by Ford. No way to think much on Ford cars and SUV's. If I'm looking for my next truck, I'll be waiting for a redesign Tundra. My Camry & Highlander are doing great as ever.
Currently, my Ford is in the dealership, not yet for the minor paint problem in way of the fuel cap but for a fix in the moonroof and tailgate step issues.

Being a svc mngr at a Ford dealer(at the time) I followed protocol and to get this issue resolved. We have taken every avenue, evening opening a customer care case with Ford, but they refuse the fix the poor paint quality on my $56,100 truck, stating that they have a new bulletin published October 14th that under the hood, jambs and under the lift gate areas are no longer warranted for paint.

So, BE CAREFUL when purchasing a new F150, or any Ford. I have the vin#'s and pics of dozens of new Fords that have these same issues!
Be WARNED, quality is not job #1 when it comes to paint and Ford will not stand behind or correct this poor looking product
Here are some pics for reference.

I have worked in dealerships for 23 years and I have never seen a manufacturer put out a product like this and not stand behind it, much less the service I received from them while trying to get this resolved

check your trucks

Matt - FORD QUALITY is NOT JOB 1, such that it use to be.

And to that fact you reference "new bulletin published October 14th that under the hood, jambs and under the lift gate areas are no longer warranted for paint."

For Ford to issue a new bulletin that references defects in workmanship and specifically state those defects will NOT be corrected, that says it all!

And to everyone who says that it's ok, don't let it ruin your day, etc, YOUR the reason Ford can sell a defective product and not stand behind their products and warrant such defects.

Lowering standards, reducing quality, that's a problem bigger than Ford!

Agree with you 100%. My truck had all these issues, and was repainted and fixed right. I've owned many trucks in the past, across all brands, and none of them had these problems.

I bet some of your lack of paint can be seen with the doors closed. Mine, the door edges were poor, as well as paint behind both rear bumper corners.

I am amazed that Ford issued themselves a TSB. Now I'm happy I got a 2015 and was "in the game" early enough to get my problems fixed.

Sad.

OP: I am sorry you are stuck with this. A custom order is supposed to be the best car/truck purchase of your life. I'm now learning the only safe purchase is an existing inventory purchase.

Yes, I've worked for 3 Ford dealers in the body shop. Like I said they all had other manufacturers as well. One was Ford/Chevy, yes on the same lot! It's kind of why I turned away from Chevy. Chevy does it too, so does Toyota.

I quit Ford this time last year, so them changing the policy is news to me, and yes bs. That's sad seriously. I'll be the first to say that this issue shouldn't ruin your day, and I can even post pics or other manufacturers that are guilty as well. So yes it is common, but at the same time, if it bothers you, it should get fixed.

When I was with Ford I saw it mostly on tux black and green gem. Seems yours is tux black? In my experience the first place they cut corners is paint. Not trying to drag other manufacturers in to this, but Look at Chevy equinox or Acadia, they don't clear the door jambs at all any more.

Unfortunate, but true. Often, when you wait months for a truck it's quite difficult to refuse it and you tend to except it with issues you ordinarily would not. If I buy another F150, it will be bought off the lot after extensive review.
