I have the jump seat and for 2015 they enlarged the little phone holder area so that my phone actually fits perfectly inside. Happy about that. Also love that they made the seat console bigger.

There isn't an OEM on the planet who has nailed this yet. They're car makers; not Apple. Of the better ones out there I think Ford's is pretty decent. Gotta say Chrysler's is more user friendly and BMW's is better for use while driving, but Ford has packed a lot into theirs and have done a decent job in making it updatable.
The secret sauce is a iDrive style interface ****, updateable, fast (like iDrive), stable, and for God's sake use real buttons when you can (looking at you heated steering wheel).

I use my phone for Maps app voice directions since ford nav has no clue. We have roads that have been in the same place for 150 years yet nav says "entering unknown map data area".

Don't get me wrong...nothing but a Ford for me, but I wish I could just use Google maps on my nav screen...or any system that actually works!

I agree with that. Not impressed with Ford's maps and directions. I also wish there was a Real button for the heated steering wheel. I also like that I can listen to my text messages and by using OK Google, can even reply most of the time. Unlike those other yahoo's swerving all over the road trying to type!

Navigation works great for me. Better than what I had in my Acura. It's not an iPhone that's for sure. I think that's what everyone expects.

After seeing how bad Apple Maps was a while back, I don't expect anything to be like that.

Although, I also don't expect anything to be like Google maps either. No one can update their maps as fast as google, especially when there are requirements like buying a $200 SD card once a year for updates. Even just taking a Garmin in the house to USB to a laptop for updates is more of a PITA than the device simply having newer maps already available.

I use Google maps all the time, with satellite view so if nothing else I can look at the real road layout to make sure the navigation is right (I've had it tell me to go a block further, do a U-turn, come back and make a right turn when I could see the road painted with a left turn lane at the intersection I needed to turn on).

If you need to see your phone while driving you should try the figment of that tree that's coming up while you swerve to miss the school bus of children.

I keep my phone visible for Google maps. No different than onboard navigation, except I don't pay to have it added to the truck or pay again for new maps.

I was looking at the Lockpick Air... Seems like it will let you mirror your phone's screen to the MFT. Pretty cool, but I don't think you can use the steering wheel controls to work the phone. It's just a one-way video feed.

Yeah, I was drooling over that myself until I realized it was screen mirroring only. So no touch control, and the phone has to stay unlocked. I have corp email on my phone, with screen lock policies pushed by the company. So keeping the screen on can be a challenge. Certain apps like navigation while plugged in keep it on, but having to keep it unlocked could be an issue I think. Like if it gets bumped while in the console, or a side pocket. Made the Lockpick Air seem less impressive. Especially with the cost, and me not having 360 cameras or other features to really utilize with it. I'd still have to have the phone handy to re-route, look for alternatives, etc. So at that point I might as well mount the phone itself somewhere on the dash and view that.

Oh, and I think the orientation mirrored over too. So if the phone bounced and rotated the display, the truck would do the same unless auto rotation was turned off on the phone. Almost seems like more of a PITA than it's worth.
