Default Playing Mp3s in order

Okay, another sync playback question. I have noticed that when I choose to play an entire album it appears that sync plays back the album cuts in alphabetical order. This really screws up albums like "Dark Side of the Moon" for example. I've looked at the manual and the settings and can't figure out how to disable "that feature". Any ideas. Thans

ummm.......for 15,000 songs...nope (lol) the track number is part of the metatag anyway. I shouldn't need to do that.

Default Playing Mp3s in order

So....this was bothering me....I pulled out the thumb drives and looked at the files. Many of them ( including "Dark Side of the Moon) had a ._ preceeding the track number. (I new I had track numbers on all my material as I have a rather extensive audio and video collection played via iTunes. I'm pretty particular about having the data correct. I was surprised to see the trash in front of the track name. I have 3 computers with my collection individually on all three (long story). Anyhow, thanks for the hint. I should have double checked. I know my MAC files are perfect. The files I used on this thumb drive came from a Win 7 machine.

Actually I do. I had (several months ago) copied the files from the Mac over to the WIN 7 machine. Then I copied what files I wanted to play in the truck onto a thumb drive. Looks like I've got some cleaning up to do.

What is the ._ used for by Apple?

Same issue with my '11. All my files are Artist_Track Number_Song and it still plays them alphabetically by song title. It is rather annoying.

A quick google on the subject suggests that the ID3V2 tag needs to have the track number in it, if only the ID3V1 tag has the track number it does not work.

If you're having trouble w/ the tags, Media Monkey should be able to help re-organize your MP3s - http://www.mediamonkey.com/information/free/

I prefer simple folder play for organizing my music.

I found this info in the manual (page 381) for CD playing, possible it's applicable to SD/USB as well. Manual didn't seem to indicate if you can set the default to folder mode.

MP3 Track and Folder Structure
Audio systems capable of recognizing and
playing MP3 individual tracks and folder
structures work as follows:
• There are two different modes for MP3
disc playback: MP3 track mode
(system default) and MP3 folder
mode.
• MP3 track mode ignores any folder
structure on the MP3 disc. The player
numbers each MP3 track on the disc
(noted by the .mp3 file extension) from
T001 to a maximum of T255. The
maximum number of playable MP3
files may be less depending on the
structure of the CD and exact model
of radio present.
• MP3 folder mode represents a folder
structure consisting of one level of
folders. The CD player numbers all MP3
tracks on the disc (noted by the .mp3
file extension) and all folders
containing MP3 files, from F001
(folder) T001 (track) to F253 T255.
• Creating discs with only one level of
folders helps with navigation through
the disc files.

Since you are using iTunes and a MAC you can ignore the _. you see on the flash drive. However I feel your pain when you spend time making sure everything in iTunes looks great, only to see it messed up when you copy over to a flash drive. I got sick of the constant headache in renaming files after copying them and just simply use an iPod now. Makes it a lot easier to manage my music. I also use iTunes match that way if something is not on my iPod I can use my phone and download it from the cloud.
