Wish I would have researched a lil bit more before buying my XLT. I would have preferred the actual dash board of the Lariat and higher trim levels. With the XL and XLT we only get the hard, injection molded dash boards. I like the leather like material of the higher trims. I've switched out alot but I'm NOT switching out that damn dash board! Lol

For me it was because I didn't want an extended or crew cab, I wanted a regular cab. And they don't come in Lariat, Limited, or King Ranch trim, although even if they did I probably still wouldn't have bought one in that trim. I've never really bought higher trim levels, it never made sense to me. If I'm going to spend $60k+ on a truck it's going to be on more truck, not more gadgets. I'll spend $60k+ on a lower trim 3/4 Ton before I buy a high trim 1/2 Ton for the same money.
As for the upgrades, I liked the look of the Limited grille over the XLT grille, so I swapped it. Other than that, I want the factory trailer brake control and that's it. I don't care for nav, or leather, or any of the other little gadgets the higher trim levels have. I don't even care for some my XLT have lol...

Bravo, too all that showed restraint in by a higher end model. I'm not so great at showing restraint least when buying a vehicle, I have to have the best leather, the cooled/heated and massage seats, heated steering wheel, pannaramic Sunroof, power sliding rear window, real wood accents, crew cab, spay-in bed liner with led lights, two tone with chrome, led lights, blis, power folding mirrors, FX4 4x4 package, luxury package, Chrome package, 5.0 V8 automatic, 3.55 gears, navigation, cd, motion sensors, lane keeping system, inflatable seat belts , 400 watt power inverters front and back seat, power running boards, and last all the KR badging so everyone knows it's a KR.

So with that stated I still modified the following, Tires to Mastercraft MXT tires (35 x 20 x12.5), Bakflip G2 tri-fold hard cover, Flowmaster 40's dual exhaust system, 4" suspension lift, leds on the running boards, in the grille, led light bar in the grille, accent painted rotors, calipers, shocks and grille and last made a removable wood bed floor.

I may have missed a thing or two but can't even remember the original cost or with mods but who cares no one but I had to pay for it. Would I do it again, yes every time. Because of the simple fact that some have stated it's mine and what I want to do with it, and no its not a waste of money if it's what I want and can afford.

And last keep buying and moding what ever trim you want because I to love seeing what you all have come up with in your builds, good luck and wish the money keeps flowing.

I look at it this way, its your money your truck. Who cares, what some other person thinks!

If you like it, and can afford what you buy. Thats all that matters. I know of more people buying higher trims, that Cant Afford them, then the oppiste way around!

Problem is on here, more OP try to Shove what They Like, on OP then Helping!

I don't chase women anymore, I don't drink anymore, I sure don't golf. What the hell else am I going to do?

To me it's a hobby, a way to spend time. I really enjoy a challenge and trying to do what others have not yet done (adding oem ambient lighting or nav enable). Figuring something new out is fun to me. Afterward I get sense of accomplishment on having done it myself, plus I enjoy and appreciate my ride that much more. It also means I get what is important to me.

I also enjoy helping and sharing what I learn with others on here, others may benefit.

It's not for everybody, to each his own.

Some people buy what they need.
Then modify the vehicle to what they want.

Others buy what they want right from the start.
It's just what makes people different.

The same question can be asked why are people paying $70k for a truck that they'll never put tools in, load full of material, or connect a trailer to.

Easy answer is that's what they want.

Why does the community think the higher-end owners don't use their trucks as trucks? I didn't buy a higher-end truck just for shows, I haul construction and landscaping materials all the time, and because I do It gets washed weekly. And that doesn't equal to not having a life but someone that takes pride in what they own and like to see it around and looking new as long as it can.

And the statement about higher-end owners buying what they can't afford, how do you know what the owner can and can not afford, have you seen thier bank statements. They got the loan or paid cash otherwise it still be at the dealership.

We all buy what we can afford and what we want xl to the Raptor, enjoy what you have and don't worry about what others have. We all just want to see what others have done with thier trucks and mods and we may or may not copy or mod somthing simular.

Your opening sentence is absolutely correct. I have a local friend that special ordered a 4x4 Platinum with every option available. He said he bought it primarily for deer hunting. I couldn't believe my eyes after he returned from his very first deer hunting expedition. The wheels were all scratched up. both front fenders had dents in them as well as both rear bed sides were scratched all the way to the primer. The windshield was cracked from hitting a low tree branch. It just goes to show you that everyone's idea as to how a truck was intended to be used is different. I personally would not have spent that much money on an F-150 for that type of use but hey, that's what it all about. What's practical to some may not be practical to others.
