Question Paint Protection Films--- Reviews, etc

I can't seem to find a thread on here strictly about paint protection films... so I thought I would start one. Getting my 2016 Lariat any day and someone's post piqued my interest. Wanting to know if anyone has done a DIY install of either Xpel or 3M PRO. Got some quotes and think I may be able to swing it but would love to hear reviews.

Thanks!!

I have my whole front end done with 3M and it's great. Also have the door jams done. Never had an issues with peeling but I've always had it professionally installed. Helps to have a friend in the business.

Did you even look at xpel or was the 3M recommended by your buddy?

Well I sure as hell didn't install it myself but I had a Zeibart dealer do the 3M film. I believe it was $550 for what I chose. Basically mine covers everything but the plastic grill.

Buddy does 3M and I've had it on my last 5 vehicles and never had a problem with it. I honestly never looked at xpel. He probably does 15 cars a day and he really likes the 3M...

Xpel ultimate is fantastic. I've ran it on the wife's vehicle for 20k and ZERO damage. Still looks like brand new. I wish my whole vehicle was done in it.

Yes I believe Ziebart uses 3M film. I actually drove 2.5 hours to have the film done and the truck under coated. The Ziebart I used was in Dayton.
