Default Options for increasing hp and tq for 2.7

Hey guys, I am looking into trying to make my truck a bit more powerful. As the title says I own a 2.7 EB. I have looked into some Roush products i.e. CAI, exhaust, etc. I have read the the CAI is a waste of money and provides only noise. Exhaust would only provide marginal gains. I know people get tunes done but I would prefer not to void my warranty before the 3 years. Is this a lost cause? Should I just enjoy what I have? I know that a truck is not a sports car just looking for a little extra power. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

I would leave it for now until warranty is up. The only thing I did to mine was exhaust before the warranty but it was cat back. I'll do a tune once the power train warranty is up. Just do visual mods for now, and yes CAI is a waste.

An aftermarket tune is the key to any significant power gains in just about any modern engine. Most OEM air intake tracts and exhaust systems flow pretty well.

But, if I decided to risk voiding my powertrain warranty; an aftermarket tune and off road Y pipe would be the first two things to look at.

Ok, thank you for your responses. I am also now reading that the K&N air filter in just put in last week is not good for the engine and can harm the MAF.

The filter it's self isn't going to harm the MAF. What causes the MAF failures is when people over oil the filter which then gets into the MAF. Even then though all you need to do is wipe it off and your fine.

2.7 only has an intake air temp sensor in the pipe. no MAF on these trucks i believe.

With the direct injection, the intake valves don't get cleaned by fuel, like you get with port injection. Since the OEM paper filter filters much better than the K&N, and there is no oil, stay with the OEM paper filter. The OEM paper filter flows way more air than the engine will pull, the only advantage of the K&N is a lighter wallet.

Sorry to tell you that you are wrong:

The New Vehicle Limited Warranty does not cover any damage caused by:

•alterations or modifications of the vehicle, including the body, chassis, or
components, after the vehicle leaves the control of Ford Motor Company

•tampering with the vehicle, tampering with the emissions systems or
with the other parts that affect these systems (for example, but not
limited to exhaust and intake systems)

•the installation or use of a non-Ford Motor Company part (other than
a certified emissions part) or any part (Ford or non-Ford) designed
for off-road use only installed after the vehicle leaves the control of
Ford Motor Company, if the installed part fails or causes a Ford part
to fail. Examples include, but are not limited to lift kits, oversized
tires, roll bars, cellular phones, alarm systems, automatic starting
systems and performance-enhancing powertrain components or
software and performance ‘‘chips’

Here we go again. It doesn't matter what proof I show you're going to argue.

The dealer MUST PROVE the failure was absolutely caused from the tune.

Period. Adding a tune does not void your warranty.

Save your breath and start your own thread before taking this one off track like every other one you do.
