oil change before 14 hr road trip?
currently only have 2,500 miles on the truck but should I go on the road trip and do the oil change when I come back or before the roadtrip?

Oil change isn't due until 10,000 miles. If you feel the need to change it more often, then it's up to you. A road trip, no matter how long, isn't a reason to change your oil.

Oil is cheap insurance on a vehicle, and I personally would not keep the factory fill in nearly that long. Way too many particles and contaminates floating around in that oil, especially if it's a DI engine.

The manual says the oil life monitor will indicate when you need to change oil and under normal conditions expect this to occur at 7500 - 10,000 mile intervals.
You can change it every other day if you want, but this is what Ford recommends.

I think you should be fine for your road trip and change it when you get back, that's what I would do. I personally did mine at 2K, and than at doing it again at 7k and than from there on it's going to be 8k.

Mine was at 11.75 months before a 3,000 mile roundtrip, but only at 6000ish. Drove trip, changed at 9,200, indicator comes on just before 12 months regardless of mileage.

I had mine switched right after I bought the truck in Feb 16 and switched to full synthetic from Ford and then every 4 to 5 thousand miles along with my tire rotation. I know what Ford recommends, but I'm old school, and always changed oil at 3k miles.

Long road trips and highway cruising is less taxing on the oil then short trips, a lot of stop and go, cold start ups, and extended idle time. Accordingly you'll befine but change it if it makes you feel good. There is no "break-in oil" used by ford nor is it critical to change the factory oil out after a couple of miles--that is old school and a thing of the past. The oil put in by the factory is good until the first oil change indicator light comes on.

I'll change mine at 1000. Then every 5K. Full Syn. There is nothing you can do to protect and extend the life of your engine than keep the oil clean. It's cheap insurance regardless of what ford says.
