Like most others have already stated, you guys would be foolish to have your local dealer tear into your brand new $40k aluminum truck to redo the seam sealer. Unless you have the utmost confidence in your body shop and know they're fully capable, it will most likely come out looking no better and possibly even worse. These pictures you guys posted aren't even bad. You are naturally going to have some wavyness and undulations. Think of how tricky it is to lay a perfect bead of caulk. As long as you have no paint adhesion problems, dont mess with it.

Take a look at my 2013. Mine was 10x worse than any of the pictures posted and actually had air bubbles that I was told by the body shop mgr were able to be broken open with their fingernails. I cant post the link to my thread easily now because im on my phone, but you can look at my posts on my profile to find the thread.

Maybe mbullock will chime in here. He is our resident body shop guy on the forum having worked at Ford body shops.

Unhappy My first F150

I have the same problem with my new truck. I noticed their poor application of the gutter sealant on both sides... this is my first Ford truck and it's really disappointing. they should at least cover it up with some kind of rubber or plastic. my Ford dealer service advisor told me that he won't report it to Ford because it's normal... what? normal?

Well...my truck runs GREAT, all the accessories work GREAT, the paint job is GREAT, the fuel economy is GREAT, the towing capacity is GREAT, it's very comfortable to drive, people compliment me on it everywhere I go, but the gutter sealant on the top is wavy....this truck is a TOTAL POS!!!!! LOL

Default I felt left out

Crew cab, passenger side only

Good thing it's white maybe it's a slick new design that changes the aero harmonics to warn deer and small animals of the approaching vehicle, that's it I'm sure of it!

Man, sounds like this guy's a blind Ford lemming. His mantra is "Ford can do no wrong; they are my God. How can I serve you today, oh aluminum father? "
Wow,I bet they can sell you a diamond ring while you are standing knee deep in diamonds, huh? Admit it, Ford's RUSHING the production of these new trucks and shoddy workmanship is the result! If I was paying $50,000-65,000 for a truck, it better be immaculate! I'm glad I didn't spend my hard earned money on this nightmare. Though I do like the new styling of the F-150, I went with my gut and purchased a '15 Sierra Z-71 SLT double cab.

You enjoy that sleepy motor, turning that key and pulling on that innovative collum shifter. I'll enjoy my air leaks, doors that don't shut and artistic sealant designs...lol but I'll smoke your as_ to the next light. Move along troll-man

Practical note on roof of FordF150: I washed my 4 Tundras with milk crate for the front roof and a hop into the bed for rearmost portion. Change necessitated by this Ford is a step ladder for the front and same hop into the bed for the rear. Truth is I can barely reach the center of the top edge of WS via step ladder! My suspensions OE height & wheels too.
Barely see the sguiggled seam at the front from ground.

Don't forget about the Adaptive Cruise control that kicks in when it sees a shadow, keeping both hands on steering wheel so you don't drifting off the road, and your rear seat passenger having the arm rest sticking in their back. Wow, talk about great quality at $55,000 a pop! Where can I get one?
