The 2.7 limitation has to be due to the weight of the loaded models and gas mileage. Does anyone here know the weight difference between the XLT SC and the Platinum or KR?

I don't think the options weigh a massive amount. Everything for Ford is pricing structure for Humans and how to maximize profit.

I wish we could just a-la-cart everything.

You'd be surprised how much all the bells and whistles add up in weight. I'm not sure of all the differences between XLT and plat, KR but for example, those self deploying side steps weigh a ton. Bigger wheels, tires, power fold mirrors, bed liner, etc, it adds up.

I remember when I picked up the rear dvd system for our former expedition. Dealerships around here install the option after you buy the vehicle so people don't break into the vehicles and steal them. Anyways, the whole DVDs package weighed 30lbs.
