OK, so you've got 4-5k of positive equity to use as your down payment, and you can get 8-10k off sticker on an XLT, and TTL is usually around $2,500 as an example.

Now then, with the lower number of $9,500 in discounts and trade, and counting the TTL, you're looking at a sticker price right around $50,000. That should net you most 302A XLTs.

Every 2-3 years we rented a machine to shampoo our house carpets and did the vehicles with the upholstery attachment (not that they needed it). Every vehicle I've sold/traded (9 - 13 years old) looked brand new on the inside.
Your challenges are welcome and I appreciate your opinions. That said, I am in the best position to determine what is correct in my particular circumstances (and give my particular kids), and I can say with authority that leather seats are easier to keep clean than cloth (we are talking about home cleaning here, not professional cleaning).

Again - I disagree. When its below 30 for 4 months of the year and you have a bad back, heated seats are a godsend. Not to mention that my wife says they are a need. Happy wife, happy life. It also appears that I was wrong to say that I can't get heated seats in a cloth trimmed seat.

One thing I did not mention is that I am going to use the truck as my daily driver. I work from home most of the time now, which is why I do not need a fuel sipper anymore. That said, living in new hampshire means that a lot of miles are driven (mostly at 45-65 mph) because just about everything is far apart. So - fuel economy means something to me. Hence why I specified the 2.7 vs. the 3.5 ecoboost. I don't need the capability of the 3.5, the 2.7 is still reasonably fun to drive, and best of all its a little cheaper. I do realize we are talking about a truck here though. Almost no one buys a truck because of the fuel economy (Except perhaps the Ram Ecodiesel, but that animal has other issues).

Already done - trade value is 13,000-14,000. I owe 9,000. So I have 5,000 in equity there. I am also putting a large payment down because I hate debt and will not finance a vehicle for more than 3 years. That said, my total budget is $40,000, including the 5k in equity and my down payment. I do not want to finance $40,000 as some seem to think.

Yeah, depending on how long it's idling before you get in it and drive.

This is exactly what I did when looking for a truck. Ended up buying a 302a and i'm putting katzkin in. With the sport package it comes with a flow through console and leather topped lid and armrests - and the interior is all black. Makes for a very seamless transition to all black leather with a gray stitch.

The 302a will cover all your needs minus the leather. As others stated, if you need leather you can install a katskin leather kit yourself 500-700 depending on the style or have it professionally installed for around 1100.

I have a 2015 302a Supercrew with all the features you noted except for the following.

4x4
Trailer brake controller (but can tow 7100)
Moonroof
Leather

I payed out the door without a trade in or TTL 33,500. With the above options and and 5000 equity you will be able to get all the features you want.

My baby

For a gas Mileage reference my 15 screw fx4 XL with a 3.5L Eco 3.31 gears has averaged 20.2 over its lifetime (1500 miles) I use it as a daily driver to and from work mixed driving speeds between 35-55 mph with some stop lights mixed in and occasionally I will give it a little more pedal than I should (not wot) just be cause the truck is so peppy and fun. On a 200 mile trip to Houston 65-75 mph I saw an honest 22.5 mph for the trip. All of these figures are from the dash so they could be bad I haven't hand calculated.

The 2.7L with get even better mileage. If the 2.7L tows what you need go with it I have not seen one person on the forum who has said their 2.7L is slow or underpowered.

Went to the dealer tonight hoping to make a deal. Was a bit dismayed because I found out that heated seats only come with a 302a XLT that is equipped with the chrome appearance package. I also absolutely HATED the salesman (what a condescending sack of suet), so I walked. Really amazing how some people assume that if you have a budget, you can't afford more and don't have any clue what you are talking about.

Will try a different place tomorrow.

In the meantime, what do you all think of this very lightly used 2016 - ticks all the boxes except heated seats. http://www.autofairford.com/vehicle-...nh-id-11182746

You can get a better deal then that. That salesman was also wrong. I just purchased a brand new 2016 xlt with the 302a package with the sport appearance package. Paid 36000 out the door. Mine is 4x2 but 4x4 should only be a couple thousand more. I would not buy used, you can get a better deal brand new.

Just did a quick search how about this one?

http://www.fordoflondonderry.com/det...-14641237.html

Msrp is just below 46000. According to the ford website your area is offering up to 10500 in total saving. You should be able to get them down around 35000 + TTL maybe 36000+TTL
