Default Need help picking tires for leveled 5.0 3.31 gears

Looking to get ideas from you 5.0 guys that have 3.31 gears and a level for tire suggestions please. Would like to get bigger ones but not kill my power and gas mileage.

275/60/20 if you have the 20s.

I have a 2.5" levelling kit and 1" block in the rear and I run BFG K02 305/65R18 tires and I love them.

Erik6bd - if you get bigger tires, you will reduce your effective gear ratio, thereby adversely affecting performance.

For example, D0T-C0M went up to 305/65R18 from (likely) the stock size of 275/65R18. This changed his effective gear ratio from 3.55 to 3.39. So you and he are essentially in the same boat performance-wise with your stock tires, even though he has 3.55 gears.

If you were to go with similarly large tires, your new effective gear ratio would be 3.16. For an engine like the 5.0 that needs to rev to make power, it might be disappointing with regards to performance.

Larger tires will be heavier, which will hurt mpgs, while the increased size will hurt performance...

I run 275/70R18s on 3.31 gears and a 5.0. I still enjoy driving the truck. If I wanted " fast" I would have gone with a ecoboost. I love the V8 and it still has plenty of power with the 33x10.5 KO2s.

2" level in the front.

33" KO2's. Good balance of size and performance.

As others have said keep it to about 33" I have the 3.5eb with 3.31 and I feel my 33s are about all I would want to run with this set up. 70mph is barely over 1500rpm. I've noticed it shifts down quite a bit more than stock. (As in it shifts down now) Any more tire and I think it would be annoying. I'm sure the 5.0 would be pretty similar in that it would shift down a bunch more and get annoying if you went any bigger tire.

Pretty much in the same boat. Have a 2016 screw 5.0 with 3:31 gear 18" wheels. I am wanting to level and move to 33"s. I,m now worried about how much decrease in performance there will be. I didn't buy a race truck but don't want a slug either! Would love to hear from a few more folks that have done this with 3:31s ?

The old 4R75 had 2.84 1st and .70 OD and with 3.73 did fine with 33's.

With a 4.17 1st and 0.87 5th and 0.69 6th.just put the 33"s on and if 6th is to tall use 5th.
